Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt was summer and no AC. We were only given a fan.
The hotel was so clean, beautiful, and historic. Safari truck ride, delicious breakfast were already included on our booking for 2. Also my 5 year old was given complimentary safari truck ride, extra bed and breakfast. It was a last minute booking and it was the decision I made this summer

United KingdomWe had a slight issue with bees or wasps coming into the room from a nest outside of our window but it was mid-summer with beautiful flowers outside. It might be worth the hotel checking the window seals to avoid this in future.
The hotel room was beautiful and we loved going out in the golf buggy after the zoo was a fantastic experience. We ate at Bear Lodge restaurant in the evening, I had the most delicious vegetarian burger ever, so nice to have something made of actual vegetables and not a slab of fake meat. The breakfast next morning in the 'garden room' was also wonderful.

Wow what can I say, from start to finish what an amazing experience. Booking on booking.com I was nervous but we had immediate informative emails from port lympne, yes it was a little pricey but we had the most amazing special time which I don’t think we can replicate anywhere else unless we were to go on a real Safari. To see these endangered animals in such good spacious environments and to see them up so close as well as after day time closing it was magical. Highlights were the lowland gorillas, and hearing the lion and tiger roaring at night and being so close to them without a single car insight. The room and view from the hotel was beautiful and the staff all so polite and attentive. Never been anywhere where even all the young staff are so dedicated and polite, well done Port Lympne. Food was pricey but absolutely delicious. We were treated to complimentary Prosecco and mimosas for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was just all such a special and memorable experience thank you.

United KingdomAs someone who uses a mobility scooter, it was quite difficult to get around - there are golf buggies, which can do the bulk of the work, but as everyone with limited mobility knows, it's the last bit - the steps, the thresholds, the stairs. But it's a historic building so obviously some things simply cannot be done. If you are able to walk a little, you will be fine, but do ask them to take you as close to the doors as possible,
The place is magnificent, with beautiful terraces and eating spaces, the staff are uniformly friendly, and polite. Whilst there are people willing to help, it is not possible for someone with mobility issues to get everywhere. We stayed in the Charlie Chaplin suite - a beautiful set of rooms overlooking the hippo fountain. A lovely sitting room with tea, coffee (Nespresso machine with pods) and bottled water, comfy sofa, table and chairs, and a TV. The bathroom is vast and very beautiful - however it is impossible to maintain a steady temperature in the shower, the flow is quite feeble, and the mirror is not above the basin but on the adjacent wall. The bedroom is lovely, with a comfortable bed, large dresser, quiet fan for those warmer evenings, pretty chandelier and side lamps, with a little nook for reading. We had breakfast at the Bear Lodge - wonderful! Great choice of options, fresh juice, and perfect morning coffee. Highly recommended.

United KingdomNothing.
If you love the glorious English countryside, wonderful architecture & grounds, fantastic views, amazing staff and incredible animals then ignore the headline price as this place is an absolute bargain as you get all of the above in abundance PLUS Howletts too. As these aren't performing acts in a circus there are no guarantees who you will see and just like us some are early risers, some late. The same applies to the temperature so do a little planning to get those extra special memories. All the staff were superb but extra special mentions are required for Freya (The tooth fairy 😉) and Jensen at the concierge, and the lovely Ruby in the Garden Room. You three put the icing on a very special visit, THANK YOU!

United KingdomWe were a little disappointed that functions were causing certain areas of the hotel to be off limits. Of course part of the experience is getting the buggy and driving around the reserve but picking it up at 3pm and taking it back at 11 am the next day means that you actually have it for a very short period of time. By the time we had eaten dinner the animals were all in their lairs and then in the morning you cant enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
We love the Hotel, the architecture, the gardens, the decor and was more than happy with the beautiful view from our very nice room. Breakfast was very good in The Garden Restaurant.

United KingdomThere was a bit of building work going on in the grounds , but it didn't really spoil the experience.
We have stayed at Port lympne mansion four times now. Each time we have had different rooms and all of them were outstanding. How many hotels have a fabulous zoo on the door step, acres of stately gardens to wander around, and a golf buggy to use, all for no extra cost . Probably the best hotel breakfast we have ever had and it is waiter service and freshly cooked to your own wishes . This was also included in the price of the stay. There are several on-site restaurants, bars and cafes. Initially the room may seem a little pricey, but when you think about how much you get for it , there is a lot of value .

United KingdomThere was a swarm of bees outside our window, which we had to shut to prevent them coming into the room.
The room was conveniently located, clean and bright. The staff were helpful and polite. We were given a golf buggy as part of our stay so were able to zoom around the park in the morning before we left and see all the animals.

United KingdomPrice of food and drink around the zoo is very over priced and isn't that good. We were prepared and brought picnics and our own drinks for the stay. I noticed many others came prepared with cool bags. If food was sensible priced and more appealing (F&C Maybe)I expect people would buy more. Breakfast was okay but we always feel the garden room restaurant is Not set up for couples, you don't get much space! Families however get masses of room with kids/babies having plenty of room to spread out toys everywhere. The tables need to be spaced out better to make couples not feel squashed in and on top of each others.
Beautifull outlook, peaceful.

United KingdomUnsure why you couldn't use the allocated golf buggy until the 3pm check-in time. As visitors are encouraged to come early to make the most of their time staying there, it would be great to have access much earlier. Check-out is 11 a.m, and you have to hand the golf buggy back at that time, so there are plenty of golf buggies available before 3 pm. We found the food prices in the Garden Restaurant extremely expensive for what was on offer. May also want to consider having more fish options as well as simple vegetarian options and not just chickpea, sweet potato or butternut squash ingredients
Staff were very friendly. Our room was in the Mansion House, very clean, comfortable, and spacious. Lovely complimentary toiletries, nice selection of teas and coffee in the room. It was great being able to walk around the park and see the animals and to learn about the rewilding of animals. Also, the views across the downs to the coast were amazing. We would highly recommend the afternoon tea. It was slightly different and absolutely delicious. Breakfast was also really nice. Lots of options were available to choose from. The food was fresh and served hot
