Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomVery minor things were, it would be helpful to have hooks on the doors ( we used the backs of chairs to hang our coats on). When the wind blew the window whistled, but this didn’t keep us awake after all the fresh air.
The location overlooks the water in the centre of Portree. The public car park is just across the road. If you are out all day you can put £3 on the metre at about 5pm and it adds time onto the next morning ( until about 10am). The kitchen was really great. We had a ping meal one night and takeaway from the fat panda another. We also visited an Indian restaurant ( just across the car park) & the Isles inn. There were plenty of charging points and plugs in the room ( we had a twin). The towel rail worked well in the shower room. We turned the radiator off in the bedroom. The staff bought us more loo roll when requested. The kettle in the room was very handy.

United KingdomI had an appointment so the 8am breakfast was ideal but wasn't there. At 8.20 I asked, and was told i wasn't on the list and there were no staff to provide this. Fortunately i rearranged my appointment and a gentleman sorted out the breakfast, as i was the only one who had paid £5.95 for the service. The price of the breakfast was shown to be prohibitive, and a single room price of over £70 per night was higher than most b&b's in the area
checked in by a very helpful, cheerful girl. Booked a breakfast with her and paid at checking in. As she had no change i owed her £1, which i gave to a different girl on reception later that evening.

CanadaThe ensuite shower in the room was broken so had to use one on another floor. There wasn’t a line or anything but it definitely wasn’t ideal. It was still clean enough but bring shower shoes :)
Portree is tiny so everything is nearby but the location is excellent. Right across the street from the town square with easy access to the major Skye and mainland buses. The view from the common room is of the harbour which is beautiful with the huge windows in there. Lovely to sit, have breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Full self-service kitchen with hot water always on tap to make a cup of tea and fridges, freezers, ovens, utensils, etc to cook when needed. Beds were comfy and warm, room, common areas very clean with lots of room to sit, lie down, eat, and board games and activities available. Nothing really to write home about but perfectly safe, clean, and comfortable for a solo female traveller hiking around Skye to rest in the evening. 99% of the people staying there were also hikers so if that’s your vibe, this is perfect.

United KingdomThe shower in the room was out of order during my stay. It was quite inconvenient to use the one downstairs. It would be appreciated if there is a hairdryer.
The bed was comfortable. The lounge is cozy with an incredible view. The kitchen was clean and tidy. Staffs were friendly.

United KingdomThe walls were quite thin - I could hear noise from the kitchen and the lounge area (I was in the room closest to them, so I cannot speak for all rooms). Additionally, you could hear noise from other room and in the main hallways, especially. Also, any noise from outside by the parking lot could be heard. I would have liked it if the individual bed lights were working in my room. Also, there was limited outlets and I ended up plugging my phone charger into the ceiling outlet, as it was the closest one to the upper bed bunk ! There was also limited cabinet/locker space. My room only had 2 for 4 people, but they did have the ability to be locked with a lock you could bring yourself.
I enjoyed the proximity of the Hostel to most things in Portree. It is only a 5 minute walk from the bus station/main square. Additionally, the kitchen was fully stocked with plates, bowls, cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. which is ideal if you are planning a longer stay. There's only a few restaurants in town that are open for dinner, so I would recommend getting groceries from the Co-Op down the street to make something! I also was glad that each room only had a small amount of guests per room. Definitely allowed me to get to know my roommates better and made communication easier in terms of wake-up/bedtime. The ensuite toilet and shower was also nice. The shower was spacious and was able to heat up at a comfortable temperature (for me, I enjoy very hot showers in such chilly damp weather).
