How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The first room we were in was quite smelly. These are ICL’s dorms, so it makes sense. However staff were very helpful and changed the room. Shower facilities weren’t amazing, quite beaten up and they have a specific smell to them too

Too great a distance from Reception to room which is hard to figure out the notation for, from block to block and floor to floor. There was a queue at reception.

Room could be a little cleaner. The lift was not working and I had a room on the 5th floor (7 days).
Location is great, close to many attractions and surrounded by cute cafes and nice restaurants. A very lively neighborhood. Very nice staff. Room was basic, but cosy and had everything I needed. Reasonably priced stay.

In morning fire alarm starts every day because of hot water steam comes from bathroom while taking shower. So you have to rush to the lobby and wait for sometime till the situation under control. You will get same breakfast everyday. Which is OK as you are staying in hostel.
It was a nice stay in a hostel room. Room was cosy, clean and has all the amenities. Location was very nice, close to bus stop, subway, and just opposite to national science museum. It was 9/10.

Would’ve loved a tv in the room it would’ve completed the stay all the more - however I understand it is a uni accommodation and so that is unlikely heheh - other than that nothing was at fault
Amazing location! Right next to all the big museums and art galleries, short walk to tune stations and to lord of activities, quiet nice lovely area too! Felt safe around the area and recommend the stay a lot!

I was told I couldn't get an invoice as I booked via booking.com. Booking.com told me I could get one from the hotel. Outcome.... I still don't have a receipt for my expenses.

Price /location Rooms are college dorms so expect basic accomodation but it´s clean and very good price. Bathroom and showers are small.

the elevator at our building was not working and this was one of the reasons I chose this property. After checking in I tried taking my large luggage up to the 2nd floor and it was impossible. So I had to return to the front desk and ask for help.
the location was perfect for what I was there to do which was to drop off my daughter at the University.

I and my sister moved from another hotel which was very bad. This hotel has everything with good quality. Not so small room, cleanliness is good, paper towel, the bath room is also clean, staffs are kind. I would say I would like to stay this place when I visit London again.

Fire alarm/drill twice a day. Very badly adjusted fire alarms so we had to evacuate the building proximately 6 times during 4 day stay. Difficult communication prior arrival

Nothing. For the money it is the best option you can get in South Kensington. It can be noisy outside on Friday nights. But it is like that near all main streets in the city center.
One of the best areas in London. 5 minutes from Hyde Park, 2 minutes from 3 museums. Good for solo travelers as there are quite big and comfortable single rooms. Fridges and kitchen on the floor, but no dishes. It is a student’s dormitory of Imperial college that is used as a hotel during holidays. Rooms are clean, modern and comfortable.
