Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomCar park was small but adequate. The stairwell was dimly lit making it hard to see and one of the handrails on the stairs were loose. Also one of the window hinges was badly corroded so was barely hanging on!
The room was nice and the staff very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomRooms serviced on request, cleaning items needed e.g. toilet cleaner. Happy to make our own bed. Kettle would not fit under the tap to refill, used glasses to fill. Extractor from the kitchen quite noisy, ear plugs supplied on the 3rd day.
Good central location, parking for guests by prior request. Clean, tidy room, tea and coffee machine. Comfortable bed. Fluffy towels. Restaurant on site book to use, breakfast and Tapas in the evening very good. Remember to book. Extra items available on request tea, coffee etc. Very friendly welcome and staff.

United KingdomIt would have suited us to be able to have a breakfast starting at 7/30am or 8am. We were on a trip with a number of friends staying in other Devon towns and we needed to be able to meet up at 9/30am or 10am at up to on some days at 45 minutes drive away. Of course on the day we started activities at 10/30am in Tavistock we had benefit. It would have been nice to have had a resints lounge to sit in too.
The breakfast I had was very good.

United KingdomThe shower tap was confusing - but then again every shower tap in every hotel I have ever stayed in has needed serious thinking about to get it to work at the right teperature.
Breakfast in the Annex restaurant was excellent with good selection to choose off the menu. Hotel room was fine with plenty of space and very interesting outlook over the roof tops of Tavistock. The Tapas restaurant downstairs is very good.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't like was the shower controls. The shower had two heads, one fixed and one hand-held, but the markings had rubbed off the controls so you couldn't see which controlled heat and which controlled the shower head. Also the controls were quite hard to operate - a bit stiff and quite hard to turn. Once I'd got the hang of it though, it was fine.
I had booked on the basis of overall package, but particularly the location in the centre of Tavistock so within easy walking distance of everything. I contacted the owners to advise I would be arriving later than their preferred check-in time and they were very prompt in coming back to say that would not be a problem - huge relief! I arrived even later than expected (10.30 pm!) having had a delayed flight but they were still open for me and really welcoming - great service. they also had some parking spaces and had coned off one to ensure I could get in - really thoughtful and in a town with narrow roads and not that many car parks (certainly no free ones that I saw)this is a real bonus. The room was lovely, really comfy, good range of amenities, even a coffee machine. Breakfast was in The Annexe restaurant adjoining the rooms part of the property. Lovely space, very light and airy, lots of plants, great range of retro style furnishings, and an amazing breakfast menu! The food was lovely, the staff really attentive and service quick. Prices for the food were really good value too I thought, given its quality. I didn't eat dinner there, but if I stayed again would probably try to book to do so - it looks great and the fact it seems to be fully booked most of the time tells its own story. Comfy accommodation, great service, lovely food and reasonable prices. Great package. I would definitely look to stay again if visiting that area.

United KingdomThere was no hot water in the bathroom wash hand basin. However, the shower was beautifully hot. The door to the garden room was rather tricky to open and close.
The breakfast was excellent, filling, tasty and hot. The Annex where breakfast is served, is light airy.,and very popular with non residents. The sraff were young, very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable about their food and wine on offer. We were 'upgraded' to the garden room which was beautifully quiet and self-contained.. Parking was nice and close.

The location was great! Easy access to town centre with shops and restaurants! Private parking was good! There is a restaurant owned by the same owners which was recommended by local people. It was a shame we didn’t have the chance to try, but highly recommend everyone to pre book! The room was more spacious than expected!

United KingdomSituated on a steep hill with fast traffic and pavement on one side only. Room cramped. Website photograph misleading - made it look bigger than the reality. NO terrestrial television. Biggest complaint: The "en-suite" door was glass and did not close properly so that someone sitting in the only chair (very heavy, impossible to move, and rendering the bedside table drawer unopenable) had a fine view of anyone on the lavatory. The complimentary coffee left was de-caff only. Bedside light impossible to read by - arty farty and uselsess.
View across the town was pleasant. Reserved parking - once we found out it was ours.

United KingdomUnfortunately only managed to get 4 hrs sleep both nights eventually as every 1/2 hr for 1/4 hr at a time the refrigeration unit from the bar kicked in which made it impossible to get to sleep. Only found out on departing what the noise was. Was disappointing really as we had a wedding to go to later on the day we departed. Hopefully this will be replaced very soon as its not good. Bought earplugs but not comfy and could still hear noise.
The room and bathroom was lovely, had everything we needed plus a separate dressing room. The tapas in the restaurant attached was amazing, best I've had. Parking on site was handy and not far from town either. Staff and manager were all very friendly and pleasant.
