Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The only thing that could be improved was the decor as it was a little dated. However everything else more than made up for that and I would definitely stay there again.
Great host - she was super friendly and helpful and was able to accommodate everything we asked for. Fantastic breakfast - the Eggs Benedict was excellent as to was the homemade bread and jams. Super location and parking - the location is superb - everything is within easy walking distance and the there was ample on site parking with CCTV security. Fab room - it was spacious, very quiet, clean and the bed super comfy.

It would have been even better if the sun had been out.
Great location, exceptional hosts, amazing breakfast. Room was comfortable clean and had all facilities available. Shower was great with an abundance of hot water all selection of soaps, shampoos provided. Phil and Ness greet you personally and do everything they can to make your stay the best experience. Ness adapted the breakfast to accommodate my dietary needs, and I didn't miss out on anything. The home made jam and marmalade is a delight in itself. There is a bar on the premises should you wish to partake, and nothing is too much bother. You are made to feel at home.

Nothing! It was just as we expected, with the warmth of the hosts an added bonus.
Hosts Ness and Phil were so very welcoming on our arrival. Our room was ready and we could book in straight away, although they already had said we could park there as early as we liked which was lovely. We had a beautiful spacious room with a view over Lynton. Breakfast was excellent and home made bread, jam and marmalade was a lovely surprise! A very comfortable stay, in a homely atmosphere, we hope to return sometime soon.

The room on the top floor was a bit tight for moving around but the quality was good.
Hosts were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast outstanding, full English plus other options available. House beautiful, withsome stunning views. Good location for the many walks near by.

The genuinely warm welcome we received from our hosts, and their attention to all their guests’ needs, meant that we felt very well cared for at Rockvale House. It is a very comfortable, warm house with 2 beautiful lounges and the breakfast is superb. It’s a 10/10 from us😀

Wonderful hospitality! We were treated like royalty. Enjoyed a game of scrabble one evening. Delicious homemade food and generous helpings - would recommend the eggs royale! Helpful and timely responses to our questions prior to arriving. Hope you come again some day!

One small thing was no street lights on drive to see at night not a problem with a phone or torch.
Breakfast excellent, nothing too much trouble. Perfect location close to restaurants and amenities.

It is a fabulous house and very well situated to all of the local amenities. Our Hosts were amazing and so welcoming and the breakfast in the morning was plentiful and delicious. We will definitely stay here again

The mattress was a bit flat. Probably could do with replacing. Didn’t take away from our lovely stay though.

I can only echo the other reviews..our stay was brief, but delightful. Our hosts were warm and friendly..and shared our love of cats! The breakfast was top-draw..a perfectly prepared Eggs Royale using homemade bread and freshly-made Hollandaise sauce. Highly recommended.

Loved everything!
Lovely stay again at the Rockvale. Ness and Phil always so kind and attentive and makes Lynton a special place for us. Highly recommend to visitors! Rockvale brekkie is superb, lovely ingredients and they make their own marmalade!
