Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdom• The place was not clean — only the bed was made. It seemed like the host made no effort to clean. The floors were not hoovered, the sink wasn’t clean, etc. It seemed it hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guest. • The mattress and pillow were uncomfortable — just there, offering no support. • The fridge wasn’t working. • Flies were EVERYWHERE. This was both annoying and unpleasant. • Insects were crawling on the floor. • The room opens directly from outside and has no curtain or blind on the window. Anyone passing by could see inside — no privacy whatsoever. I had to stack towels on my bag to create a makeshift curtain. • The heater came on at full blast in the middle of the night (around 2 a.m.) and couldn’t be adjusted from the room. It kept me awake until around 5:30 a.m. Not sure why the heating was on full in the middle of May. • I attempted to contact the host on Booking.com and via WhatsApp at around 3:40 a.m. regarding the heat and also asked if an iron was available. The host didn’t respond until after I had checked out. • I also wasn’t convinced the sheets were clean — there were visible stains on them. Overall, the place gives off the impression that the host has only put in the bare minimum to meet listing requirements, with no real consideration for guest comfort. For example, the mattress and pillow were extremely thin and offered no support. The same goes for cleanliness — clearly only the bed is made between guests. I saw toothpaste residue in the bathroom sink, which had obviously not been cleaned, and the floors were still dirty. If you’re looking for a place to simply stay and don’t care about cleanliness or comfort, this might work. Otherwise, I would not recommend it. If it was clean, with no flies and insects, I would be able to overlook a lot of the other stuff, but the whole experience was a 1/10.
The location - it was close to town

United Kingdom- Unclean, dirty kitchen surfaces (crumbs, debris, splatters) - Unclean floors (needs a hoover!) - Mould growing, by the head of the bed and along the bathroom skirting board - Scuffs and grime on the walls - Floodlight coming on during the night (activity sensor, lots of trash out in the garden, so maybe rats?) - Mattress was orange with stains when I stripped the bed and there is nothing but a thin sheet between you and that (no protector cover) The property needs some TLC, I suspect the floor needs ripping up to solve the mould and damp issues. But just a 30min clean between guests, a new mattress, and painting the door glass (although I was glad it was frosted for privacy since the pics) would be enough to see kinder reviews.
- 15 minute walk from Nottingham City Centre - 2 min walk from bus stops - Very responsive host - Great water pressure/temp shower - Fancy light up mirror - Access to washing machine in a communal kitchen in the main house (you are in a converted shed in the back garden) Stayed for two nights to attend a conference was able to get to NTU Brackenhurst in 40mins from a bus stop just down the street. Clearly the property had some love put into it at some point but now feels neglected...
