lovely place, thought it was going to be really loud since it's on a main street and a very busy pub but once you get up to the rooms you cannot hear a thing! Staff are lovely and welcoming, would stay again if i'm ever up that way again

Wifi was fickle: OK on a tablet but no laptop connection, with no obvious further registration requirement.

The room was quiet and comfortable, and the location was ideal for me - a short walk from the train station; a reasonable walk to work. Breakfast was hearty and flavourful.

My booking was 'difficult' due to a huge motorsport event at the time so the town was very overwhelmed at the time with visitors. However, the manageress looked after us to ensure our stay was more than satisfactory.

No car park, had to park car some distance away and lug my suitcase. Bathroom was separate to my room which I didn’t realise when booking, but I had sole access.

I think the carpets need cleaning and they smell musty, this is evident when you first enter the room. The location is not great as if you have the window open you just hear a load of swearing and youths outside until the early hours shouting.

I think it would be better if the seating in one particular area of the bar was changed so as to not to have to ask the bar-users / customers to have to move off their stools to allow the door providing access to the stairway leading up to the rooms to be opened. This was particularly frustrating when carrying one's luggage, etc. In addition, I would have liked it if that door could only have been opened by the guests staying there...rather than just being capable of being opened by just anyone - for greater security and peace of mind as a guest.

The room was nice (although the edging was coming off the desk in the room, I could see) and the soundproofing to the outside (and to the bar area below) was good too, given that it was a Saturday night, I was only on the first floor (and in the room nearest to the stairway leading down to the bar / restaurant area) and given that my room was also looking out over the street (and almost over the front entrance to the establishment itself)....so I was probably in the room most susceptible to sound / noise. However, I slept well all night! I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the room (although maybe having an air freshener in there might be good too, given that opening the window for fresh air - and so being subjected to the typical noise from a town centre street outside - would not be appealing) whilst the bed was excellent and very clean and comfortable. The shower in the ensuite room was also fine and the ensuite bathroom itself was very clean. The staff themselves were also pleasant and accommodating.

Generally avoid staying in pubs as it seems strange to walk through a pub to get to one's bedroom, however the door from the bar made the bedroom seem separated and kept the noise to a minimum.

Room was comfortable and clean with in-room facilities. Evening meal was good. We enjoyed the tempura banana flowers, which were a new one on us! Vegetarian breakfast was generous and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The location was awful, I had to have the windows open all night because of the heat, but I was kept awake by teenagers screaming at each other and fights and arguments outside the pub for both nights. The teenagers seem to hang out outside the pub. Not the pub fault but it was awfully noisy both nights.

I had some concerns after reading some reviews. Yes it is a pub and there is no reception but it was a great place to stay. I heard no nose at night trim the pub. And it was a good experience being in a welsh pub watching Wales win a match in the rugby cup. Food was very good. Staff very nice

I have been a vegetarian for nearly 30 years and the veggie breakfast at The Rose and Crown was easily the best I've ever had - delicious!!

WiFi unreliable

All good. I would avoid Room 1 if I visited again as the noise travels up from the bar. Food good. I usually had to approach the bar for service, the staff didn't come over very much to check if you needed anything, even though it was table service.
