The bathroom and specifically the shower.

We were upgraded and so our room though small had a king size, very comfortable bed with very good bed linen. Room had a very nice aspect onto the street. Room was very warm and good tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom was tiny and difficult to navigate and shower the smallest we have ever encountered (difficult to wash one's hair!). Also, there was some bad mould on the shower tiles that could easily be cleaned. The towels however were excellent. All of the staff at the hotel were exceptionally cheerful, pleasant and helpful.

Noisy location. With bus stop outside and their early start. Delivery lories, early morning.

Signs of dampness in dining area but probably to be expected due to age of building. Also flaking paint in part of our bedroom, but notice was up apologising for it. Apparently it was a temporary issue awaiting repair.

Good value breakfast, plenty of everything. Sausages a bit disappointing , but otherwise both cold and hot food excellent. Other meals were fine too, but menu appeared to be the same every day, so one might get tired of the same food if staying for more than a few days.

Mould in the shower.

Lovely historic building. The food was very nice both in the pub and at breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean apart from the shower which although it was clean had a lot of mould on the grouting which looked horrible. But the bed was very comfortable and tea and coffee facilities were good. Most of the staff were attentive and polite.

Room was a little small, but with it having listed status on the property it certainly does the job.

A very quirky hotel, fits in nicely with the town with uneven walls, staff were amazing, couldn't ask for better.

i thought there wasnt enough staff to cope with the volume of people at the bar at lunchtime. could have done more for meet and greet on arrival. however the staff were friendly.

evening meal was fab, bath was superb, staff were friendly .

The building is charming but quite old which can show sometimes - old windows that don't close properly etc. Nothing major.

Very friendly staff, good size rooms, nice shower (hot water, great water pressure). Wonderful breakfast with plenty of choices. Great location. The rooms have a coffe making machine and a kettle.

The bed was two single beds put together, which made the middle quite uncomfortable.

The location is right at the city centre, close to the shops and cafes. The staffs were super friendly and helpful with the parking space.

It would have been much better if I could have stayed longer.

Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere created by all the staff. Location was perfect for exploring Totnes and beyond. Supper was very good but unfortunately had to miss breakfast because of train times. Would definitely stay again.

It was friendly, comfortable and just what we needed as a stopover en route for the south west coast.

Communication was definitely poor and difficult. I tried calling them several times and was only ever able to get through to the actual hotel once. I sent them several emails but they never responded. The electric shower although nice and warm, lacked proper pressure.

Very comfortable room, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The whole place has a very "olde worlde" feel to it. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was surprisingly good and abundant with a good selection to choose from. The service in the restaurant was very friendly. I arrived very late and they were happy to accommodate me. The location is perfect for Totnes - very central.

It was a cold night when we stayed and the bar areas were not very warm even with open fires (which were lovely to look at).

Great room, location, building very characterful. Comfortable beds and lovely support pack for dog and owners!

A bit noisy in the morning but mainly due to roadworks happening right outside. Car park small and tight, but we did get the last space five minutes after the earliest check-in time so get there early!
