We booked through booking.com and received a half board option where dinner was supplemented and breakfast was included. This was a nice touch which helped to balance out the price of the room. Not only is the hotel and its grounds very nice but the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. From the reception staff, bar staff, restaurant staff and then the wedding events team that we bumped into the day after, everyone was on the same page and really helped to create a positive experience for us. We left with a real positive vibe and would definitely recommend.

The prices were quite high

Amazing food, had duck leg in a Yorkshire pudding with holondaise sauce and a fried duck egg on top - stunning! So clean, comfy beds and pillows, you even get a choice of pillow to have (pillow menu) I recommend you pay the upgrade and use the rooftop spa - so worth it. We had a rhasoul mud treatment that’s reasonably priced and so enjoyable!

Whilst the hotel, room and grounds were fantastic, a music facility would have been nice. Not everyone wants to watch T.V whilst in their room or listen to commercial radio. More information about what facilities you are able to use if there on a RO basis would be good, fortunately I have stayed a few times now but never considered this something that is conveyed clearly without having to ask.

The approach to the hotel makes you feel like you are breaking away form the world, whilst only being a few miles away from Harrogate. The hotel reception is very inviting and check in personal yet efficient. All parts of the hotel are beautifully curated, relaxing and the grounds inviting for a short stroll.

3 spa treatments were booked and pre paid before we arrived and these were confirmed on arrival. However when my daughter in law went for her treatment she was kept waiting for 20-30 minutes . Then was told there was no such treatment booked . Someone in the Spa area was less than honest about what happened eg over booking or staff not turned up . This was the only negative about our stay Only one choice of restaurant during our stay and the menu was the same every night

It was very loud - the corridor to the spa passed my room and there was noise outside room until 2330 (when I put earplugs in).

The staff were very friendly. The room was lovely for what I paid for it. Good use of facilities included in room price. Lovely grounds and surroundings - I went on a run with a map given by reception which was a lovely route around the area. Lovely shampoo etc provided.

Difficulty booking restaurant ahead of time. Told booking staff went home at 8pm Disappointed hotel wasn’t in pictured historic mansion, but in hyper modern space built on behind. Mansion appears to be event space.

I felt the dining options to be limited initially .... either top tier restuarants or low end pub food at the Deer inn. However once I spoke to the reception team it was made clear that there is a bar menu ... perhaps this could be advertised better??

Venue was unbelievable. Service when checking in was great. Room fantastic. just all round great experience.
