Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOur room was very cold when we arrived and the radiator in the bathroom never got very warm. Just a suggestion but maybe the rooms need to be warmed before guests arrive. It should be noted however that when we mentioned this to Reception a portable heater was brought to our room straight away. Would have been nice if there had been a mini fridge in the room, but that's just us being fussy! We were a little confused by the 'servicing' of the room. In the welcome book it stated that guests should inform Reception if they want their room serviced every day. We stayed for 4 nights and only asked for our room to be serviced once; however it was obvious it had been 'serviced' to a degree every day, but not consistently, eg biscuits were left 1 day, but not on the other days, sometimes the cups were washed and sometimes not, and the bin was never emptied so it was overflowing by the time we left. Having said this, due to the overall lovely experience we had during our stay, these niggles seem minor and would not deter us from staying again.
We loved the history and quirkiness of the accommodation. There are clearly areas of the hotel that are run down (it feels like a work in progress) but don't be put off by this as it is still an amazing place to stay, partly due to the resident peacocks which seem to be around every corner and the awesome features around the place due to its history! The biggest bonus for us with the hotel though was the staff - they were all brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. A particular shout out to Rory behind the bar - what a lovely guy and a real asset to the hotel. In fact I would say all the staff are a credit to the place. We ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings during our 4 night stay and the food was delicious, breakfast was also good. We booked a spa experience during our stay and it was brilliant. We would definitely go back.

Atmosphere and surroundings were fantastic. Peacocks, rabbits and squirrels in the grounds added to the ambience.

United KingdomThe restaurant food was mediocre at best, poor for the pricing. And it was a terrible, dark, dingy room to have a restaurant in, whether the historic banqueting hall(unlikely!) or not. The double bed was just two singles put together. The room servicing was terrible, all they did was straighten the bed, didn't refil the empty bathroom soap, didn't replace used coffee, milk or biscuits, didn't add to the very limited, very cheap thin toilet rolls, didn't tidy or clean anything. Various things in the room and hotel were under maintained. The door latch wouldn't lock. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work. The curtains were wet through when we arrived, oddly. Toilet seat was broken.
The Castle, grounds, pecocks and location were amazing! The gyms were best of any hotel i have ever stayed at. Rooms were big and well equipped. The restaurant waitresses were professional and gorgeous and the barman was great. Reception staff varied, but all good.

United KingdomThe locals smoking weed in the tent.. No use of the the spa without paying extra which is a shame, I’d understand if you wanted treatments but to sit in a steam room and a hot tub for an hour with broken jets it was a bit steep.
Setting is fantastic, room dog friendly and food really good. Staff seemed really lovely and the grounds and peacocks made it a special stay. Breakfast was delicious as was dinner.

United KingdomEven though we stayed for two nights the bed wasn't made bins weren't emptied, tea tray wasn't replenished. As a former employee of top hotel this would be standard procedures every day. Also I would like to say that on your menu there was only one meal suitable for vegetarians which would be acceptable if the menu was changed everyday but the menu was the same everyday so that means a vegetarian has no choice eating the same meal everyday.
Breakfast was good, location was excellent. Bedroom was lovely with a lovely view
