My room was at the top of the main stairs and so it was quite noisy. I could hear everything in the foyer and bar area, which went on very late, including the music in the bar. I had to delay going to sleep until it had all finished. My room appeared to be an accessible room and so everything was very low down. I’m 6’ 9” and so I found it a bit awkward!

The view was exceptional. Room and bed was very comfortable. The food was delicious, especially breakfast.

Room was not looked at until we complained to Assistant Manager. She was very helpful, supplied us with tea bags and toilet rolls both of which had run out of because nobody came and replenished our room, she also emptied the full bin in the bathroom and gave us clean mugs. (We had to use our own, thankfully we had bought as a memory of holiday). Not at all happy with the way the room was looked after. After the attention from the Assistant Manager things improved greatly.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar was excellent, a lovely way to end the evening. Breakfast was great, a good choice and very tasty.

We had a meal in the Restaurant and the wine was served in a pint plastic glass. My husband spoke to a member of staff and then the manager who did not seem happy to find a proper wine glass. We were not going outside with our drinks so were amazed when it seemed a problem to have our wine in a proper glass. This spoilt our experience of dining at the Castle.

We had a sea view room which was very nice. Furniture was a little dated but was in keeping with the decor.

A walk in shower would be better especially for older guests with problems getting in and out of a bath.

Perfect location for sight seeing and public transport.

We were a little disappointed that the bar did not have Mermaid gin.

Value for money - we had a lovely time but the place was being run on a skeleton staff. No housekeeping during the stay, even when requested. It didn't have the luxury feel I expected for the price (~£170/night). It was comfortable, but not value for money.

Lovely building and fantastic location - right on the edge of the town centre and on the sea front. We could see the sea from two windows! Staff were all lovely and looked after us as best they could but they were thin on the ground.

It’s an old building and in a few areas it’s looking a little bit tired and showing its age. On the first evening we were there there were some issues with the food service and I suspect they were understaffed

It was in a good location and was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lady who ran the breakfast service was really friendly and accommodating

    Had problems working the shower.

Great room with fantastic view overlooking the sea. The colours of the early morning sun rises were magical. As for the room, nice size and well kitted out. On suite well proportioned. Friendly staff made the stay enjoyable. Breakfast was fine with a good selection.

All was good. We were a little unhappy with dinner. My husband got a burned and really bad hamburger and my risotto had no taste. It may have been just a one off bad experience and actually did not go with the all-good rest of the experience. Plenty of other dinner options in town.

The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. There was a nice garden where we could eat, relax and enjoy. The breakfast was beyond our expectations. Fresh vegetables and food as well as soy milk and vegan options. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.

one room (our friends) was lovely, light airy and spacious. our room was small dark and nowhere to put our case. I booked them both at exactly the same and they were the same price. I was very disappointed in the difference between the two rooms, felt our friends was far superior to ours and the price didnt reflect that.

staff very helpful and accommodating. arrived early and one room was ready so were able to leave our bags and go off exploring which was great. were also able to leave our bags on checking out for a few hours so perfect. location was also perfect as we arrived on the hovercraft which is 3 mins walking distance. water on the bar was also great.

Just make sure you eat out and not at the restaurant. The food was very, very bad. The property has outsourced their kitchen to Greene King. If you avoid meals, this is a wonderful place to stay.

In one of the two rooms we had booked, the sound of water pipes from other rooms was a bit annoying - a few seconds' gushing sound every so often throughout the day and night. The rubber bathmat we requested for the shower floor was perished and bits were falling out. Neither of these shortcomings bothered us too much, though, and we would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.

Hotel is well situated, a few minutes' walk from FastCat pier. Rooms spacious enough, with sea view. Breakfast was tasty and good value - we enjoyed the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and the avocado and poached eggs on toast. Staff were friendly and helpful.
