The main evening meal was just about adequate but with a serious shortage of vegetables and the suite was poor

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was excellent.

Noise from rooms above and corridor, squeaky floors. Seagulls at 5AM totally ruined the experience.

Real feel of history in the place. A true taste of Highland Victorian tradition.

Room was small but adequate for a short stay. Bed was ok but could have been comfier.

This is a historical hotel not a modern one which gives it charm. Buffet breakfast is excellent and great value.

There was loud music being played on the Friday night which prevented me getting to sleep but luckily it stopped before too long.

Breakfast was excellent, couldn't fault it, and staff friendly and helpful.

There was only one socket where the TV plugged in, which meant I had to go to the Tesco and buy a little socket adapter for £4 in order to plug my Chromecast into the TV so I could watch my own shows. After getting checked in on the Friday evening I needed to take a shower because I'd say in something on the train. When I got out the shower and was putting stuff on the radiators there was a knock at my door and when I shouted through someone just said "did you just take a shower" and when I said yes said "that explains that then" with no further explanation which freaked me out a little bit. When my partner showed up and I told her about it she suggested that there might be some sort of silent smoke alarm in the room set off by the steam of the shower. I went out on the first morning and came back to find the bed had been made, bin emptied etc but the bathroom hadn't been touched and all the towels were still in the shower I went back down to the front desk to ask for some more and they only had one and said they'd have someone bring the second up. I went up and put on the rugby while I waited and it was 35 minutes before someone showed up with the second. The place was a bit of a maze, there was one lift (out of order on the second day) which didn't actually go to my wing so you either had to take the lift up to the third floor walk around to find your stair case then go down one or just learn the route of staircases to take you up two flights. None of these things were major problems but I'm just including them if you're the sort of person who reads reviews thoroughly. I would go back again.

Normally when I visit Perth I get a B& B in Bridgend but either because I was booking with slightly less notice than usual or because there was something else on an actual hotel in the middle of town ended up being the cheapest option. Being in the actual middle of town instead of having to walk over the bridge, having a fully stocked breakfast buffet and the bar open into the night were all definite perks over the normal cheap b and b experience. This particular hotel is apparently the oldest in Scotland and dates back to 1699, my partner was really excited by looking at the various old building features. I'm used to folk keeping themselves to themselves but the hotel also seemed to have function rooms and my first night there was some sort of line dancing event and the second night was some I heart the 80s party and the guests who were there for that were very boisterous and chatty in the bar (and at one point in the gents bathroom because they couldn't be bothered trying to find the ladies!) So it was interesting to hang out with a different mix of locals in the evening.

Would have appreciated USB contact. Possibly with leaving a deposit to avoid the obvious risk that people might steal them! I first was given a room very far away with lots of stairs. However, the staff were accommodating and switched me to a room a bit easier to get to. I would however advise anyone with mobility issues to make sure they get a room within easy reach. I had problems with the wifi and after trying numerous times, I finally went to the desk and was told that iPhones demanded a further security level! She told me exactly what to do using a special code and then I could access the wifi! Very strange!
