Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

I’ve tried to talk to someone to get informations about places, transport, storage my bag during some hours after checkout but I couldn’t find anyone.
Is well located and easy to go through main attractions walking or getting a bus.

Not a lot of communication with the Hosts, it is more like an hotel than a B&B
Small room (I took the single one) but with everything needed. Quite good situation as I dont mind (and even really appreciate) walking (around 30min to get to the old town) but there are buses too. I enjoyed having some tea and hot water in the room. Private bathroom was good and quite big for a single room.

Stairs a bit steep at the top but understandable for this property. Towels clean but in need of replacement with new as we’re somewhat worn/not fluffy, which I’d expect these days.

I’ll never get used to the British staircases, so narrow that sometimes it’s a challenge to carry your bags 😮💨 Other than that, everything was great 👌🏼
Lovely and cosy! And just a short walk away from the centre (20mins), so definitely a treat.

Was abit of a walk to Edinburgh centre bed was slightly firm for my liking but other than that not a bad at all.
Was nice quaint and close to local couple pubs and not bad takeaways,not a bad place and would definitely recommend.

The bathroom could have been cleaner, especially behind the toilet, but overall the room's cleanliness was fine.
Very easy to check in/out and felt very private. The location is lovely and very good facilities in the room, especially at the reasonable price!

The heating was not working to well, so it was very cold in the morning.

The turn over service could be improved. I stayed for 9 nights, and my sheets/towels weren't changed.
The location. The cleanliness. The family that runs the business. Comfort. All were exceptional.

Neil is a very friendly helpful man. When my luggage arrived on the third day, he immediate sent me a message he put it into my room. The guesthouse is about eight stops from the centre but buses are every ten minutes. Recommended

There needs to be a room for dining - given the inclement weather, it's probable that during one's stay, one will want to eat at least one meal indoors.
Room was comfortable and quiet, warm with good facilities. Location was brilliant, easy to get into town, with side-street parking available. Would definitely recommend.

Bathroom was generally clean but wall next to the sink wasn't cleaned properly. It takes time to reach the center, if you have things planned there you should consider the bus times.
Convenient, quite small but comfortable and fairly clean place. Not very close to the town center but has pleny of off-the-beaten-track food/drink/grocery options nearby. There are many bus lines available passing through the neighbourhood, it takes about 20-25 mins to the heart of the city with all the traffic. Overall, good stay.

The guest house is located in a quiet neighborhood. Close to bus stops, connecting directly to the city center in Edinburgh. Comfy bed and a nice bathroom.

It is not quite central and I have to take bus to go to the conference which took around 14 monies however the issue is that buses not every 2-3 movies like London in Edinburgh
