Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I stayed here for three nights, and I highly recommend this place. Fiona and Ben are kind and respectful, and I feel very safe with their place as a foreigner. The location is quite convenient, and the street parking is easy. The room is clean, and other guests are nice as well. Really love this amazing place.

The only downside was parking on one evening we were there. We got a space but quite a walk up the road. Not a problem for us but if mobility is a problem then this could be an issue.
We liked how easy it was to walk into Keswick. Our room was on the first floor and was spotlessly clean and very comfy. We stayed for 3 nights the breakfast was yummy and a great start for the day. Fiona and Ben were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely stay again. Thank you

Parking is on street so can be busy but there’s lots of other parking round and about. The owners will help find a space if you’re struggling.
Great immaculate guest house in a good location close to the town. Very friendly owners. Delicious breakfast

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they gave you us useful tips for traveling in the area and even lent us their parking card for nearby attractions. Highly recommended stay!

Loved this little place. The staff were so incredibly kind and accommodating. As a solo traveler the most important thing to me is safety. I felt so secure and safe here. Everything was clean and the breakfast was great! Would highly recommend!

Hosts were so friendly, couldn’t be more accommodating. I had my bike and they were very kind to offer their garage to store it. Breakfasts were lovely, room was perfect for me. Can’t recommend booking here enough!

Nothing not to like
Really enjoyed my stay at squirrel lodge . Very helpful and considerate hosts . Ben with prompt answers to my questions before I arrived and Fiona with delivering my delicious breakfast. Full English cooked beautifully. Stayed in twin room which fitted my needs perfectly and was very comfortable. Nice touches with snacks in room and available in breakfast room. Covid practices in place . Location wise so close to town so brilliant for walking to eateries and Derwent water. Thank you Fiona and Ben .

Great location, clean comfy room, quiet, great breakfast choice and very friendly hosts. Dropped on Squirrel Lodge last minute and what a find too. Beautifully decorated room with two single beds (last room available). Beds were comfy which meant we had a good night's sleep. Tea/coffee making facilities and bottles of water. Lovely cooked breakfast which set us up for day too. Everything was perfect. Would highly recommend as you won't be disappointed.

We had a lovely stay at the Squirrel Lodge. Our room was immaculate and had everything we needed. Breakfast each morning was lovely and there was a good selection to choose from. The lodge is very close to the town centre and just a short walk to the park. Fiona and Ben were so lovely and welcoming. We will definitely be recommending the Squirrel Lodge to our friends and family!

Twin room was just great, our dogs bed sat nicely between our beds, there was plenty of storage and nice treats with refreshments.

Everything was perfect.
The place is perfection. There was a warm welcome into a well decorated B&B. We stayed in the King room, and it was extremely comfortable, and a lovely space to unwind and relax in. There was a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit pots, yoghurts and cereals and quality foods were used in the cooked breakfasts. The hosts clearly love their role and are extremely welcoming and helpful.
