Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWasn't keen on leaving the room key every time we left the hotel area.
Absolutely loved the hotel, the staff are very accommodating! The breakfast was really high standard and the views are stunning in the location.

United KingdomThe food in the bistro and on the tasting menu were both delicious. As you can imagine, if you’re a big person then the portion sizes in the bistro may be on the smaller side, so might need to buy more sides!
The staff were all extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming all mornings and evenings. They remained extremely professional whilst also great to have a chat to. The location and room we had overlooking the lake was beautiful. Would highly recommend spending the little bit more for the lake view!

United KingdomThe staff cannot do anymore for you. The rooms are spotless. Large and very comfortable. The food was excellent 👌 😋 overall. It was a wonderful night once again for my daughters 18th, and I will 100% be back.
This hotel means so much to myself and my family. Not only did I work here, but I also got married here. I still come back to stay every special occasion. This is by far the best hotel in the lakes.

United KingdomNo complaints at all
Beautiful setting right next to Lake Windemere. The views were amazing over the lake from the lounge, then also our room and again at breakfast from the dining room. The bar was cosy with an open fire and helpful staff. The hotel was clean and welcoming and staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Already recommend to family and friends. We will be returning in the future.

United KingdomNothing.
Everything was superb. The building has old world charm but is kept in top condition - no faded grandeur here. The room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed. The food was excellent; we have eaten at Michelin-starred restaurants that were nowhere as good as this. Finally, the staff were fantastic, so friendly, but also discreet and quietly efficient, they made our stay.

United KingdomNo lift, that would be a problem for some.
Staff are obviously very well trained because they were all polite and efficient. We were in room 10, this is the biggest hotel room I have ever been in, very comfortable with a luxurious bathroom. The hotel doesn’t welcome dogs.

United KingdomWe considered the drinks and wine were very expensive.
The location of this hotel is second to none. Away from the bustle of the popular towns on Windermere but close enough to ferry and cruise boat terminals at Bowness for sightseeing trips. There are extensive views over the lake which can be enjoyed from gravel paths around the mini peninsular on which the hotel stands. The hotel upholds traditional values of service with style. The hotel is well staffed, all the staff were very friendly, obviously well trained and clearly enjoy their jobs all of which which makes for a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms were impeccably clean and well appointed. Beds comfortable and a well stocked tea tray in the room. Robes, iron and ironing board all available in the wardrobe. (We were in a superior double).

United KingdomYou have to book for breakfast (they turn your room whilst you're eating) and booking times for breakfast were somewhat limited, so ended up eating later than we'd have liked. There were workmen outside our room which was a little noisy but thankfully not too intrusive.
Staff were all very friendly and approachable. The food was amazing, and the scenery stunning. There's plenty of history at Storrs hall, although we never discovered the story behind the tapestry on the stairs! Oh, the bed was huge, and we wanted to keep the pillows!
