Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere is nothing I didn’t like
My first visit to the Isle of Wight was an absolute delight. Our stay at Stroud House was a true treat, and we felt incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon it. Freshwater, with its stunning landscapes and excellent hiking opportunities, proved to be an ideal location for nature enthusiasts like us. One of the highlights of our stay was the breathtaking hike along the coast to the Needles. The scenic beauty was simply unparalleled. Sarah, our host at Stroud House, deserves special mention. Her warm hospitality was evident in the lovely breakfasts she prepared for us each morning in her charming conservatory. Her recommendations for places to visit and dine were invaluable and added immensely to our experience. We discovered the Red Lion pub within walking distance from the house, and the dinner we enjoyed there was nothing short of fantastic. During our stay, we explored various parts of the island, including Osborne House, Shanklin, Yarmouth, Freshwater Bay, and the Garlic Farm. Each place had its unique charm and left us with cherished memories. What struck me most about the Isle of Wight was the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, not only among the people but also in the overall energy of the island. It was a truly rejuvenating and memorable experience.

United KingdomNothing.
Everything. Sarah was a welcoming host and nothing was too much trouble. Her homemade museli was the best I've ever tasted. Our room was comfy, clean and had a sofa so we could relax in the evening before going out for our evening meal. It was like home from home.

United KingdomSarah, the owner, was an amazing host. She was absolutely lovely and open. It was a new and interesting experience staying in a small B&B and I can't recommend Sarah more. She welcomed us to her home and showed us a bit of her life and hobbies. She has a very personal approach to her guests and offers a personalised breakfasts. The building is a gorgeous house with a lot of character and Sarah keeps improving is as it goes. Me and my partner had a wonderful stay and uses Sarah's recommendations as to what else to see. We will most definitely come back!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!!
Stroud House is amazing, and Sarah is a wonderful host! We were very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was exceptional, plentiful choice of cereals, fresh fruit and homemade fruit compotes followed by whatever combination of high quality eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms and tomatoes one could want all, beautifully cooked and presented. Sarah really does make you feel so welcome. We shall definitely recommend and hopefully return again!

United KingdomI am not sure that I didn’t like anything. Some people would have missed not having a television in the room or a separate room to sit and watch, especially if the weather is bad.
Cooked fresh to order and extra touches with how the tomatoes and mushrooms were cooked. Sarah suggested where to go and what to see. Freshwater is the quieter end of the island, but plenty to see and do.

United KingdomGorgeous B&B in a very quiet location. Perfectly situated to explore the west of the island, although, on the Isle of Wight nothing is too far away. Very good breakfast, large bedroom & good roomy shower. Sarah is an excellent host.

GuernseySarah was the perfect host welcoming us with a pot of tea and slice of banana cake on arrival. The room was very comfortable and cooked breakfast delicious made with local produce. Sarah accommodated us for an extra night when a storm prevented us moving on, and gave us ideas of places to visit in and around Freshwater. The Red Lion is perfect for an evening meal or the Piano Cafe for lunch, both a short walk from Stroud House.
