The hotel is quite a labirynth, it was a very long walk till our rooms and there are lots of firesafety doors on the way.

The breakfast was nice and delicious, also the dinner was very good. The accomodation was really pretty, we loved the mini garden and the wellness.

Sound proofing in our room wasn't great and our bed was quite soft, parts of the hotel felt a bit tired and dated, I think it's slowly being done up. Spa was basic, changing rooms cold and in need of a refurb, but we enjoyed having it. There were no family rooms available so we had to book two rooms - making it quite expensive - there are only 3 of us. Not sure why extra beds or family rooms aren't available, there would have been space for this.

We booked 2 rooms both were a good size with views of the garden, one had a large tv on the wall the other had a small tv which would have been disappointing if that was the only room we had. Breakfast was good and it was nice having the pool and spa. Bar area was nice plenty of space and comfy chairs etc. Staff were lovely. Great location by the river, easy access via public transport with connections to sites along Hadrians wall - we don't drive so this was essential.

As above, the staff seem disinterested in anyone with a disability. Note this hotel has no ground floor bedroom and no lift.

The restaurant staff were excellent however the reception area staff watched as we struggled with our bags to the far end of the hotel, via the garden in very inclement weather. Offering no help.

The noise from the room next to ours was awful , the connecting door was probably a big factor in that. The room was very nice and had clearly been refreshed recently but the standard wasn't really brilliant . There are pencil markings obviously from measurements which haven't been painted over and areas which haven't been repainted such as under the sink and around the toilet roll holder. As a sleep apnae sufferer I need a machine to help me breath while asleep but the plugs by the bed are of some strange variety which won't accept normal 3 pin plugs. I did however appreciate the receptionist getting me an extension to use . The swimming pool had what appears to be a ring of black mould running around the edge. We paid for breakfast and dinner, and breakfast was brilliant and my son loved it however it didn't really make up for the 30 minutes he waited to try and order a pudding . In the end he gave up waiting and he came back to our room disappointed 😞

The staff were excellent and the view from the dining room was great even in the rain Lunch on Monday was great and so was breakfast on Tuesday The showers everywhere except in the actual pool room were very warm indeed infact the changing room ones were very hot

Bathroom was cold, bedroom just warm enough, due to old single glazed windows. A waste bin in Bathroom would have been nice.

Breakfast and evening meals were nice. Loved the log burners in lounges. Had a spacious room, comfortable beds, good tv. Lovely views from dining room, sure it would be good in Summer.

Lots of condensation on the windows of my room. Old Sash Windows in bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom window didn’t shut, there was a gap at the bottom, which made the bathroom uncomfortable.
