Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo shower only a bath with a victorian style shower tap which wasn't practical but we were only there for 2 nights so put up with it.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food and drinks in the pub were good.

United KingdomTiny quibble with lack of dairy-free options at breakfast. Also really appreciated the shampoo provided, but conditioner would have made my life complete.
Staff were wonderful, very accommodating with special requests, very welcoming. Highly recommend. Room was comfortable, large, warm and clean and had everything required. The room was very quiet and the pub is itself is charming.

United KingdomThe bath with shower combo. You need to pop a hook on the wall so you don’t have to hold the head to shower and pop a curtain around so you don’t flood the floor.
The room was clean. The staff were great. The food was excellent.

Staff are friendly and helpful, fairly basic but decent food (result cooked breakfast is great). And a reasonable wine list so great beer.

United KingdomMy mattress wasn’t the most comfortable. Bathroom shower tap hadn’t been cleaned underneath. I really couldn’t think of anything else and this didn’t spoil my three nights stay.
Central location with parking. My bike was outside my room off the road behind a gate. Inside original old world charm. Associated with a micro brewery really nice selection of beer just brewed next door. Decent selection of mainly traditional pub grub. Staff were very amenable. Loads of tea & coffee in my room ( no biscuits but that wasn’t really a negative). Felt very welcome.

United KingdomWe only had a bath with a shower head attached but no curtain so you couldn’t really shower properly and none of us could regulate the water temp, either scorching or freezing. I think in the theme with the room a bath was adding the Inn feel I get that but 3 adults who had been climbing in the lakes needed a shower not a bath. Also they only accepted card payments only and the system went down so no purchases could be made, they need to move with the times a little I think whilst keeping the focus of an Inn
The location for taking in The old man, the breakfast was absolutely top notch, the room was nice and clean

United KingdomThe only thing that I didn’t like is that the shower in the bathroom did not have a curtain. You have to hold the shower head in your hand while you wash. Not ideal!
The pub is located right in the centre of the village. Parking is provided on site at no extra charge. This is a very traditional English pub with a great selection of excellent beers and other drinks. The real ales served in the pub are actually made in the building right behind by the highly regarded Coniston Brewing Company! The staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Meals served here are the standard pub grub variety and are very well prepared. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and is served to you at your table. None of that help yourself buffet nonsense! We had a very relaxing stay here and will definitely stay here again next time we are in Coniston.

United KingdomMore choice at breakfast would have been the only minor criticism, however it was still a great traditional breakfast with friendly staff.
Great central location in the town, free parking was a bonus as it saved parking down the road in the main car park. Friendly staff and great selection of local ales, think it was called Bluebird which was a great pint.

United KingdomSuper location and friendly staff. Comfortable bed & room with great view. Bedroom was rather small and there was a handheld over bath shower, slightly tricky if you are tall but fine for one or two nights' stay. Lovely food and relaxed ambiance ; has own brewery with some iconic award winning local beers. Well worth a stay.

United KingdomSaturday morning, we had to be at the head quarters of the chill swim (local school) whilst my husband was preparing to set off, I went back to the hotel to collect a bacon cob, (requested the evening before) the first staff member, who evidently had nothing to do with the kitchen went in to ask. Now she must have said something to the effect of me moaning, (which I wasnt) the chef came out and was basically very sarcastic. This was unnecessary in my opinion.
Location perfect for the purpose of our visit. Tracy was an excellent host from us checking in and serving at the bar. She went above her duty by showing us the correct route to follow to reach the finish of the coniston chill swim. This was not expected yet greatly appreciated. Evening meal on the Saturday was very nice as was breakfast on Sunday morning.
