Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdom- £30 per dog surcharge that was asked for via bank transfer after payment for stay already made. We have 3 dogs so an extra £90 on top. Should be asking for this surcharge DURING the booking process, not after I'd already paid for the stay. Also felt £30 per dog was steep. Yes I understand dogs can be messy with molting, and some dogs may not be the most well behaved but we made sure to clean up thoroughly after ourselves and the dogs are not destructive, so to me that was just an extra £90 in their pockets for no real good reason. - Little bit pricey for the size of the property.
Great location, very friendly property owners, comfortable stay

United KingdomThe cottage is heated by night storage heaters rather than central heating. It was really cold when we arrived. It soon warmed up with the log burner going but a tip for future guests is to take additional cosy clothes if it’s very cold outside.
Loved the decor - simple, stylish with a mix of old and new. Well equipped. The location was great - really felt like an escape. Awesome power shower, which was much needed after wet and cold hikes. Log burner also a hit. Hosts were lovely, full of helpful tips. We would definitely return and highly recommend.

United KingdomIdeally it would of been nice to have the dogs a bit closer. They sleep in our van and it was a short walk to them - especially in the rain! It wouldn't be an issue for most people!
The location was ideal for us as we had the dogs with us and could walk to the pub. It was comfy and met all our needs very well. Bed was comfy and the shower was good. Enjoyed the fudge that was left for us!

United KingdomNothing it was lovely!
We were made to feel welcome and at home. The Bothy was lovely and an ideal bolthole and place to explore nearby towns, villages, and beaches. There's a firepit/BBQ and a lovely looking log fire although we didnt use it. The evenings are cosy with the curtains closed and the lighting and decor are really considered. Although there's no phone signal we did get by with WiFi and there's a smart tv to chill with a film on rainy nights. The kitchen is quaint and the shower is fab! We had a lovely stay off grid :-)

United KingdomThe cottage is beautiful with a fantastic balance of modern contemporary and rustic decor. It really is a charming property set in Exmoor’s picturesque countryside. The bothy is both comfortable and practical and offers a great base in which to explore from. I would also like to add that the owners are happy to go above and beyond to ensure their guests have the perfect stay. Thank you Judith & Dean.

United KingdomThe only downside to the property was travelling through the tight lanes to get to the property as only room for one car to get through so could be quite stressful but of course that has nothing to do with the actual property and did not change or affect our experience of our stay 😀
The property was very clean, cosy and lovely. We was all accommodation for even the dog and they left him a lovely little box full of everything he needs! The bed was extremely comfortable and the room had absolutely everything you would need including extras like a log fire and bbq!

United KingdomNothing we didn't like but we didn't know it would cost £30 per dog to say, we were happy to pay the cost but it would be great if this information was on booking.com.
The place was stunning, so peaceful and relaxing. High quality furnishing throughout and all the mod cons. Plus the added bonus of the waterfall in the garden. We will be back.

United KingdomThere were no negatives as it was perfect we loved staying here!
Everything! Judith and Dean were amazing hosts, very friendly, helpful and more than happy to introduce and let us fuss their animals (which made our stay even more special) The location is idyllic - remote and peaceful which is what we were looking for. Our dog had a lovely time too and the Bothy garden was perfect for her! The Bothy was cosy and well equipped for what we needed for the few nights we stayed. We would definitely like to return.

United KingdomYou could smell the cesspit that was just outside the Bothie & attracted flies, rusty barbeque, generally uninviting outside space which could have been made much better with comfortable garden furniture & plenty of chemical in the cesspit.
Comfortable, well equipped kitchen, hot shower, comfy bed with log burner.
