Our room was very warm. It came with a fan but it wasn't ideal having to have it on at night - I would advise bringing earplugs for the fan. Although others stayed in a different room and didn't say it was warm but agreed ours was. Some of the other staff weren't overall friendly. The bed could do with a mattress topper. My partner thought it was fine though so maybe it was just me.

Location & not bad value considering we got breakfast too. Accommodated us with a late check out. The male host was friendly & helpful. It was clean & tidy. The room was surprisingly quiet considering being above a pub.

The decor is a bit dated and could do with a spruce up. The breakfast was good but loses points for the precooked then microwaved sausage and bacon.

Almost everything. Would definitely stay here again.

On arrival there was nowhere to park (this is a busy, town cntre pub advertised as having limited parking) - the four allocated parking spaces at the rear were all in use. I am a disabled driver and in front of the Crown were four or five 'disabled bays, all were occupied but only one car using the disbled bay displayed a Blue Badge. I had to unload and then park on-street, several hundred yards away and walk back. Sunday morning I tried to move the car closer but the disabled bays were occupied by taxis but the drivers refused to move and became agressive towards us. They were still their after breakfst (with their engines running). On arrival I tried to change the booking from room only to bed & breakfast as this appeared to be a lower rate but the staff were not able to do this, we had to pay the higher room only + additional brakfast rate. The room had twin beds but the matresses on both beds were different - mine was a sprung matress but the other was quite thin. The pillows were lumpy too. They did not serve an evening meal on Sunday, the kitchen closed at lunch time, we had to find somewhere else. At £10.95 each the breakfst was expensive. I tried to contact the hotel to book an evening meal using their online contact from as the phone was via a call centre but got no reply. The staff told me this was because the owner was at his daughter's wedding.

The room was large on the ground floor with good access. We ate at the Crown although this was not part of the package we booked the evening meal on Saturday was very good and the prices reasonable. We aslo had breakfast there on two mornings but it was a good breakfst with a range of choices.

Only the door banging as stated above.

I booked for a room and breakfast as last year. My only complaint this time was that my room 7 although very convenient for the back exit/entrance, late night returning guests or very early leavers, obviously have to use the (internal fire doors) and they bang really loudly. Probably not much can be done about this but I really was aware this year re noise whereas last year I was in a different room.

The bed was rock hard and thin mattress. The shower trays need resealing to rid the black mould and the room lacked colour, seemed a bit dull. £130 per night was very overpriced for the quality of the room. It’s more an £80 room.

That we came back to pub at 10pm on a Friday night to be told even as guests we couldn’t enjoy a night cap in the bar. As they were closed. As guests I would have expected better.

I loved the location. So close to bars and restaurants and shops.
