Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Warm welcome for our 2 night stay in a good-sized comfortable room. Delicious breakfast both mornings. A great location, just off the seafront, close to shops and restaurants. We had dinner one evening and both food and drinks were excellent. A great selection of Adnams beers and ciders at the bar; engaging staff and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Breakfast could have been better. All in all, though, our stay was good value in comparison to other inns and hotels in Aldeburgh.
Had a good stay. Staff were great. Room clean and very good value. The Cross Keys is in a great location, right by the beach and close to the high street.

The breakfast was poor. The bacon was small overcooked streaky bits. I asked for my eggs to be soft but they were the opposite.
The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and spacious.

No decaffeinated coffee available at breakfast. Had to take some sachets down from the room. A king size bed would have been more comfortable for us.
Great breakfast choices and no problem to adapt to requests. Lovely room, glad to have a big fan. Parking right outside. Really helpful friendly staff - one ran out with a bag we had left behind on the last day.

There wasn't anything not to like really. I gave a survey response directly to the hotel at their request. Perhaps booking.com can sort this out with hotels - it is a bit irritating giving two lots of feedback

I prefer a hard bed but this wasn't really a problem
Everything was great. The staff, the food, the booze, the room. This old inn has real character and is situated very near to the beach and also the centre of town

Wonderful and attentive staff who took genuine interest in chatting with you and making sure everything was as it should be. Clean room with everything we could have needed. Lots of space to unpack and a huge shower and very comfy bed. Breakfast options were great meaning you could try something different each morning. Cooked perfectly and presented really nicely. Great sea view and easy to park. Couldn’t fault the room or staff just wish we could have stayed longer.

This is a really cosy and very lovely pub/hotel. It's just a few hundered yards from both teh beach and the main street/shops. The staff were super friendly

Having to fill out a form on arrival. I think this would be better to do online as we were tired. Presentation and delivery of this definitely needs to be toned down a touch in my opinion. TV could do with an update :-) The shower tray overflows so I had to turn off and wait for it to drain half way through.
