Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBeing able to park on site would have made for an easier stay. We are elderly, carrying formal clothes for the funeral, was difficult, though Mo ( I think name of owner) & Kirsty gave valuable help. Town car park was short walk away, with reasonable charges.
We were there for a family funeral. Cross Keys was ideally situated in the town, but we would have preferred a car park on site. Though appreciate the difficulty because of its central location. We were well looked after by caring staff. Room was comfortable and quiet, even though overlooking the Square. We enjoyed the activity from the Saturday market in the square.

United KingdomUnfortunately we stayed on a Sunday and the kitchen was closed in the evening. But Silver lining - we ate at the Tamburino around the corner which we recommend. On a Sunday one can park outside on the street till 9.30 on Monday morning, but otherwise parking is on one several lots around the town.
The room was like a suite overlooking the ancient market square. Very comfortable and warm. Breakfast was excellent, good quality ingredients, lots of choice, friendly staff.

United Kingdomnothing about pub/rooms - sadly no parking facilities but this is due to location and completely out of owners control .
Beautiful pub sat in the centre of town - the bar area and restaurant was warm and inviting - we stayed in the top floor deluxe king room and it was tastefully decorated with warm but contemporary feel. As access to floor had lockable door it feels like you have your own luxury suite. Ned was extreme comfortable and Bathroom was immaculate

United KingdomThe shower over the bath was difficult to operate, with temperature adjustment.
The Cross Keys, is a little gem, really enjoyed our stay. The staff were great, friendly, very helpful, relaxed and made you feel very welcome. We would not hesitate to go back and stay and explore the area further.

United KingdomWe had one breakfast there and it was a bit expensive but good food. The church bells start at 6am every quarter hour during the working week if you are a light sleeper.
A comfortable well placed hotel. The Saturday rate was a tad expensive but the Sunday rate brought the overall rate down.

I liked it , hubby not so keen. Bacon bap was not a bap but a cibiata. Toast sour dough really hard on the teeth.

United Kingdomwhen i did the booking there was no mention of the pub itself closing at four o clock , i did receive a email 6 days later telling me about the parking, then another e mail telling me again about the parking and at the end was mention of the pub closing at four o clock which i missed because i thought it was about the parking again. there needs a mention before you pay about the early closing so you can make a desision about staying
the breakfast and accomodation were fantistic

Sherborne is a lovely town with quite a few independent shops to look in. As well as a couple of chain coffee shops there are also several lovely independent ones to choose. The Cross Keys has been partially updated. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean, fresh towels on our second morning and the bed made up and room hoovered. These are things that are normally overlooked when staying for more than one night. There is an Alexa in the room, a phone charger, large TV, fridge with a jug of water and fresh milk, lots of different teas and coffee to choose from. The bedroom is beautifully decorated and overlooked the market which arrived at around 7am on a Saturday morning. You can hear noise from other rooms but it's an old building and to be expected. Bed was really comfortable. We had breakfast which was included in the price which was really nice. We paid separately for dinner on one night which again was very nice. Lots of locals were in the pub, eating in the evening and meeting friends for coffee and dog walking in the mornings. I would recommend staying here and would choose to stay here again if we ever visit sherborne again. We parked in Sainsbury's car park which cost £4.60 for 2 nights and is a short walk to the pub.
