Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bed was a little soft for me and the shower takes ages to heat up but otherwise nothing to complain about.
Breakfast was really good with an excellent choice and lovely cooked options, The full cream milk (I assume locally sourced) on each table was a nice touch. Staff could not have been more helpful, and the facilities were good including a plentiful supply of plug sockets which was a bonus in this really old building. It is spotlessly clean and located right next to the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace.

United KingdomThe room was far too hot. This is the second time have stayed at the Crown(had same room, room 4 at front). And both times the room has been too hot. Turned heating off as soon as possible and had windows open all of stay.

United KingdomUnfortunately our room was over the bar and the music could be heard in our room. Fortunately we didn't want to go to sleep before 11pm. This didn't affect our opinion of our stay. Earplugs were provided because of the Saturday market and we didn't hear a thing
Comfortable room and bed. Breakfast was very good. The pub was very lively and popular with a great atmosphere.

United KingdomWater pressure in the shower was a bit low, but not unusable.
We had a lovely room at the front of the building. It is an old building, with the usual creaking floorboards as expected. The windows are single glazed so noise from the outside can be heard, especially with the market stalls being set up. However if you are warned about this, which we were, then it's not really an issue and adds to the whole experience of the accommodation. Location to visit the Cathedral and Bishops Palace and of course the market is perfect, you're right in the middle of the City. Breakfast is delicious, well cooked local produce with the added selection of cereal, croissants, fruit. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was lovely too. Overall we had a lovely experience and would definitely return.

United KingdomNothing really. Just be aware that it is a stunning centuries old building so the bathroom is not modern but it has all the basics, the floor cracks in very few places as you walk around and I loved it, it adds to the atmosphere. Could not see an hair dryer though... maybe something to add if there isn't?
Great atmosphere. Lovely staff despite being very busy at the pub, they were running back and forth, hard working people but were still welcoming. Perfect location. My room was extremely quiet, could not hear a thing from the pub or the market square but I was in a top floor room.(except when the Easter bells went on for over an hour, but this is just an Easter thing) One of my clients could hear a bit of noise for a little while but it went all quiet after closure, except for the ghost in her room 😃 The location is stunning. I had room 12 which made me feel like a male version of Belle in Beauty and the Beast with its decor and the stunning views of the market square and the cathedral, just wanted to sing' Bonjour' from the movie when I woke up. The beds a cosy and comfortable. Room 1, the one my client said was haunted by a lovely ghost, was absolutely stunning. Get that room for the fun of it. The breakfast is good, you can order an English/vegetarian/avocado on toast if you wish and there is a small buffet with bread, croissants fruits coffee/tea and juices, marmalades and Co if you don't want the hot food. There is tea coffee and water in the room. Price was typical UK price, but we'll worth the money. I own a hiking business and will be back.

United KingdomThe plumbing isn't the greatest but that's not unexpected for an establishment that predates by centuries running water and drainage.
A comfortable stay in a Grade 2 listed 15th Century Inn in the heart of England's smallest city The Gothic Cathedral, Bishops Palace and Town Museum are all within a short stroll. The hotel has a reasonable restaurant and a bar serving local real ales and cider.

United KingdomOur room. We booked a double and received what appeared to be a lovely spacious double but on sitting down realised it was two singles pushed together with king-size bedding. This resulted in a hard ump down the middle of the bed and us a little achy in the morning. Spoke to reception and were told there was nothing they could do as they were fully booked. Gutted as we had booked a few weeks before and there were plenty of rooms free then!
Location fantastic. Spacious room. Friendly staff on check in. Very atmospheric
