    Lack of space

Great location, super quiet room, fabulous food but room very small. Residents lounge was in the main pub with no comfy chairs/sofas for reading etc and no room in the bedroom for a chair.

Not being able to open the window and it was very hot in there, couldn’t have stood it if it had been hotter, I know there was a fan but needed a bit of fresh air.

The bedroom I stayed in was lovely, clean and modern. Staff were very helpful and polite and nothing too much trouble. Food was lovely as well.

Only one downside; we ordered a ploughman’s platter for two the night of our arrival which was poor value for money, only really enough for one and we’re not big eaters! It was the only meal other than the included breakfast (which was delicious)that we had.

Excellent property in an excellent location.

Parking - you might need to fight for a space with visitors. But I can't complain too much as it is a small village and a beautiful place to visit.

Location is definitely the best! Breakfast was fantastic. We've booked our evening meal and the food was excellent! The room was clean, authentic and has what you need for a short stay.

A small fridge in the room to store medicines would have been welcome. As it was very hot during our stay, air conditioning would also have been welcome. We had to keep the curtains closed as the large window was at street level so a net/ voile curtain or blinds would be an improvement

Accessible room with wet room was excellent. Food was first class.. generous portions and plenty of choice. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The windows was painted shut so we could not open it which was an issue for a very warm summers evening. the staff may have been aware as a fan was provided which did help. The bar and restaurant reception were chaotic, to be fair due to a. lot of non guests crowding the bar and the restaurant on a hot summer's evening. The staff were polite and tried to be helpful.

The room was spotlessly clean, had nice toiletries and comfortable bed. There were nice touches like large mugs for drinks and fresh milk provided in a flask.

The weather was touch and go, so started trips 12 as weather was bad in the morning, if you start earlier you have time on you're side, there was nothing to dislike only sooo much to get through.

We got in the hottest spot of anybody holidaying, the biggest room, overlooking the village, amazing breakfast continental and grill in with the cost of our room, the staff work really busy long days and keep in such good, happy spirits as hard as there day is, this is the only place to stay where the Crown has a view at the back of the Inn that takes your breath away, you tube Pooley Bridge shows you all this, we was nextdoor to the post office that has everything, amazing salads, pies, banoffee pie, open until 9pm, surrounded by fantastic food, specialist alcohol shops, tourist, coffee shops and gift shops, all in a 60 second walk to them all,we parked car outside, never used it for 4 days, there is a farmer's field parking 5 min walk for £4 for the day, do a deal with the guy if you need to park overnight. We walked to the Pooley Bridge church, go right up past the campsite on upto the cockpit stone circle, you eventually see Lowther castle miles away, then to Askham 3 miles, The Queen's head has the best pizza and fries we've ever had, then onto Lowther castle, beautifull amazing grounds and building, a must walk, castle closes at 5 pm, £15. We also went on steam boat 5 mins walk to pier, £32 one way £50 both ways an hour trip to Glenridding, ask at Tourist Information if you're not sure about Helvellyn climb, Glenridding dodd or Sheffield Pike, we did an easy climb to Lanty's Tarn about a 15 minute climb to a bench with gorgeous views, then later walked back towards Aira Force, gorgeous walk down the side of Ullswater, got the open top bus at seldom seen as we run out of time which was on the route back, £3.
