Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandOur family had an exceptional experience at the Ravilious Hotel, where we booked two rooms. The property is beautifully designed—modern, spacious, and spotlessly maintained—while still feeling wonderfully welcoming. You can truly feel that this hotel is not just a business for the owners, but a labor of love that they pursue with genuine care and dedication. Both rooms were very large with generous bathrooms, and all the facilities worked perfectly. The hotel is centrally located yet remains wonderfully quiet, making our stay both convenient and relaxing. Breakfast was truly one of the highlights of our entire road trip through southern England. Prepared with great care by the owners, it was cooked to order and beautifully presented—easily one of the best breakfasts we enjoyed on our journey. What really sets the Ravilious Hotel apart are the owners themselves. They are exceptionally kind, warm, and helpful, offering thoughtful recommendations not only for restaurants but also for exploring Eastbourne and the surrounding area. We are deeply grateful to the owners for making our stay so special and would book this hotel again without hesitation.

AustraliaLight-filled, super spacious, tastefully decorated room with all the amenities ... bathroom with a tub! Super hosts at this boutique hotel, Chris and Caroline, had all the bases covered - you would be hard pressed to find friendlier and more helpful hosts. A hot breakfast made to order (from seven choices) was a lovely change from the usual buffet-style fare found in most hotels. Location was very handy to many good restaurants and transport options. We would gladly replicate this experience anytime we travel.

ItalyAt the Ravilious Hotel, you really feel welcomed like you’re at home. Chris and his wife Caroline are perfect hosts - always smiling and lovely to chat with, full of suggestions for local walking spots, places to visit, and good food to try. You can tell how much they love their town! What’s more, they’re real foodies themselves, so following their recommendations is absolutely the best thing you can do. And the breakfasts are absolutely brilliant! Chris’s scrambled eggs with salmon and his porridge are absolutely superb!! I’m missing them terribly already!!

The attention to detail was amazing, and we felt so looked after. The couple that runs Ravilious are true gems and wonderful hosts. Also, the best hotel breakfast I've ever experienced. Thank you!

The property location was perfect for access to the beach and the town centre. The property was beautiful and sympathetically decorated and furnished for this lovely period property. United KingdomI couldn’t name a single thing. It was perfect start to finish, we couldn’t be more pleased to have found this hotel would 100% return.
The hotel is stunning, really beautifully decorated, the rooms are large with high ceilings and are kitted out with lovely furniture, even the shutters on the windows were lovely. We were greeted with a really friendly and warm welcome, the hosts were so incredibly helpful and made recommendations of places to go and even drew directions on a map to our restaurant. I made arrangements before hand to have a bottle of Prosecco in our room on arrival as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and this was done and communication was easy. They even very kindly upgraded our room when we checked in as it was available and they knew we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. We were able to prebook our breakfast slot ahead of our stay which meant we could pick our preferred time. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, a lovely selection on the cold buffet of pastries, cereal, juice, fruit, yogurts and granola and the hot food was done quickly and was cooked perfectly. The location was great, a short walk to the centre and the beach. Our room overlooked the tennis courts which were getting prepared for the upcoming tournament which was really nice. Parking was easy on the streets near the hotel.
