How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like!
Breakfast was great.Also the evening meal. Staff were friendly and efficient. Great beer. Room was very comfortable. Great location.

It might be noisy in the summer season or in front facing bedrooms
The bedroom was very nicely decorated very clean and with lovely toiletries plus fresh milk for hot drinks and artisan fudge!

Staff extremely friendly, the building is undergoing renovations of all rooms however they went above and beyond to ensure our room was ready, free drink at the bar as we had to wait a few moments for them to make the bed, the breakfast was without doubt on of the best we have had.

No view from the window which didn't really matter and the price is quire expensive.
The upgrade to the suite, room 7 perfect when you have a furry friend, dog basket and treats were a lovely touch. Drinks ample stocks and milk when required.

Only a very small couple of niggles but nothing to actually complain about. Whilst there was a coffee machine in the room, there was no actual kettle to make a cup of tea with all the other nice tea and coffee making facilities provided. I made a cup of tea using the hot water from the coffee machine, but as most will know the water is never really that hot, plus there was bits of coffee sediment in the water i was using to make the tea! The shower is not very powerful, i wouldnt advise someone with a lot of hair to try and wash their hair in the shower.
This is a cosy country pub / hotel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We loved the warm atmosphere and the variety of real ales. Our evening meal was very nice and the breakfast was delicious. Again, lovely staff throughout each dining experience who are very happy to help. Can't fault anything. We have visited a few times now and its nice to see that there have been some upgratdes to the decoration etc. All very nicely done. Loved The White Company full size toiletries provided in the room. Even though the hotel is dog friendly, i wouldn't have known there had been any dogs in the room.

Everything wow. The decor, the staff, the room was beautiful, lovely little espresso machine in there too, very comfy bed, the food was fantastic, breakfast was exceptional. We usually stay at the Royal Oak down the road and we’ll never stay there again, so if you’re in between which one to choose, pay the little bit extra because it was well worth it. We stayed in Leeds at the Hilton for a few days prior, and this hotel made the Hilton look like a travelodge.

The bathroom in our room was very small.
Our room did need the refurbishment which is planned, but the beds were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Evening meal was better on Monday night than on Sunday, when a number of the menu items were unavailable. The bar was lively and welcoming all day. This was particularly appreciated during the bad weather.

The room needed sound proofing, we could hear virtually every word spoken in the next room. It is hoped that when they refurbish, it will be addressed. Our first meal was quite poor. It was swimming in gravy with the lamb being mainly of gristle. We did eat late and it was after a very busy mothers day. So maybe we had the last piece left
The welcome was excellent, a lovely log fire. The staff were tip top. Breakfast we couldn't fault Beef Burger was excellent in the evening.. A good assortment of teas and coffees and excellent beers
