Our room was absolutely boiling and we had no way of cooling it down without opening the window onto a noisy road.

Lovely place to stay. Great staff. The facilities and decor were all super.

There wasn't a lot of room to move around the bed and storage was limited. It was fine for us as we were only staying one night but if you had a lot of luggage and/or intended to spend much time in your room, it might have felt a bit cramped.

Food was amazing! We had dinner there the night we arrived and breakfast in the morning and the food was great, nicely presented and good-sized portions. The rooms were stylish with wooden fittings and low-level lighting. The shower was hot and powerful and the toiletries in the bathroom were a nice surprise. The offer of fresh milk for the room was appreciated. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Staircase to bedroom - narrow, twisty turny - 2nd floor Blinds in bedroom let in too much light Lighting options limited - too bright or nothing No comfy chair in bedroom Car park rammed at 7pm when we arrived Business clientele - rude to receptionist when we were checking in, man on phone loudly and continuously during breakfast (it is a dining room, not an office)

Very friendly professional staff Amazing value for money Excellent breakfast Flexible on check out time Sloe gin in bedroom Room was spacious/luxurious

Nothing that we didn't like, just a few comments to make it perfect. Access to Netflix would have been nice. The bathroom was quite small with the shower using half of the space, so the access to the toilet was tight. The shower leaked under the seal so your feet got wet when you sat on the loo. More hooks in the bathroom would be useful to dry towels

Nice room, good décor. We asked for a quiet room and the Manege was just that. Very comfortable bed, tea, coffee and fresh milk on arrival, good lighting in the room. Nice bathroom with a great shower, good lighting for make up and big thick towels. The toiletries were good quality and smelled lovely. Breakfast was great, we had full English. There was good croissants, fresh fruit and yogurt. The staff was lovely and welcoming.

Certain facilities in our room needed mending such as lights / under floor heating panel. Housekeeping sign wasn’t available in room to put on door so didn’t have room service the first night. Apart from that we had no other issues.

Really friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful pub, good quality food. Dog friendly, accommodative.

The size of the room was rather smaller than we expected but we understand they are governed by the size of the stable which could not be altered.

The breakfast was very good. Having a room in the stable block was great as we could walk our dog without going through the hotel. The staff were excellent.

Charming hotel, great quality, tasty food

    • Stayed 2 nights

The room was quite small and if we were staying for more than 2 nights it would have been too crowded. There weren't any drawers to put clothes away, and there was limited space for two carry-on suitcases. We also had to wait at the reception a few times to be helped - if you're checking in/out, you may need to pop into the bar/restaurant to get someone's attention.

This was my second stay at Hare & Hounds and I was very happy both times. The main bar/restaurant and the room were very nicely styled and charming, while still being very comfortable and cosy. The room had nice touches - complimentary gin and sparkling water - and the bed was really comfortable. Excellent water pressure in the shower. We ate breakfast at the hotel both days - a simple continental spread (pastries, yogurt, fruit, cheese, etc.) and a full menu with good vegan options. We also ate at the restaurant for lunch one day and dinner one night - always good service, tasty food and good portion sizes.

Nothing major, room was quite hot and low ceilings but this is the nature of the building.

Excellent bar, great restaurant - we really enjoyed the dinner and freshly cooked breakfast. Ideal location for our day out at Newbury. Very nice staff.
