There was a loud humming noise outside which could be off putting for some people. Not sure if it was a generator noise. The lights by the bed were rather bright. Plug sockets a bit difficult to get to for using the hairdryer. Didn’t like the smell of the plug in room freshener.

Very welcoming. Staff friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very good with generous portions. Nicely cooked steak with delicious sauce and the chicken Milanese was tasty. Good chips, though these were an extra cost. Nice rooms with comfortable beds. Good shower with hot water. Easy to work. Nice to have mini fridge. We were leaving early to catch a ferry so would miss breakfast which starts at 8:30, but we were given a container of lovely granola and yogurt with fresh fruit, a pot of honey and some orange juice to put in the fridge for the morning. There was fresh milk and water in the fridge and a selection of teas, plus pods for the coffee machine. Would stay there again.

The outdoor security light shone into our bedroom when it was occasionally triggered, but a minor point.

Lovely rural pub and a good centre for walking on the Downs. Large room with countryside views, vast, very comfortable bed and well-appointed bathroom. Adorable, friendly 'pub dog', an elegant black labrador. Delicious breakfast and lunch.

slightly disappointed to be charged £20 for a 1 p.m. check in, not because we didn't have an early check in (as this is fairly essential for a Glyndebourne visit) but because this was our 3rd stay & I don't think we were charged in previous years. Maybe we were just fortunate not to be charged previously

Good location for Glyndebourne, good picnic, good to have the pub open on returning from the opera for a nightcap, nice breakfast with choices available

Lovely location, and friendly staff. Room was nicely specified and very clean and comfortable. Dinner was excellent and the beer garden/outside seating was beautiful. Good location with lots of walks from the doorstep and good access to nearby Lewes. Dog friendly (in the pub & the rooms). Well recommended, I would stay again

A shelf above the sink would have been nice, as would some hanging space.

Lovely location, beautifully appointed and great outdoor space. The bedroom was large and very comfortable with a lovely new shower room. The staff could not have been more obliging and friendly. We had two good dinners and three excellent breakfasts.

Had to remake the bed as the duvet had been put in its cover the wrong way round. Being served gin and tonic in a hot glass straight from the dishwasher. Once I commented, it was transferred to a cold glass. Just inexperience, I think.

The room, bathroom and the bed were excellent. Facilities in the room were very good. It's a lovely location with lovely outside spaces. The staff were helpful and responsive.

We were allocated Room 3 "Bluebell" which was very small but we were grateful that they hadn't downsized the bed to create more space. The pub focuses on local produce which is great but if you don't like craft beer and would like a classic brown beer you won't like the offering (my husband had the hump he couldn't have a Guinness or classic IPA).

Super staff, beautiful gardens, great location close to Plumpton College where we were on a course. Excellent breakfast. Very comfy superking bed, nice pillows. Good shower lots of pressure. Recently voted Wessex Pub of 2025. Interesting menu - mix of small plates and larger.. Local produce. Stunning countryside close to Lewes. Nice decor, lovely orangery for breakfast.

Wi-Fi signal in room was terrible. There were apparently boosters downstairs in bar but there really is no excuse for such poor Wi-Fi connection in rooms - it made it impossible to deal with a late night business zoom call because the staff had left when the bar closed around 10.30 so I could not access downstairs.

    Evening meal, bedroom decor, garden
