The lack of a lift and rambling nature of the place is a bit of a pain when it comes to dragging luggage in and out.

This is not about the hotel but about issue re communication from Booking.Com to the Hotel: On both arrival & departure (different people) we were asked to pay as they had no record of our payment until we showed them your e-mail which thankfully we had a copy with us, we booked and paid for all 5 rooms with you on 2/11/17.

Characterful, period property, offering welcoming accomodation. Large quirky bedrooms, with qualiy bed linen, and drinking water from the hotels own well. Great food, lovely main restaurant, with a choice of rooms to dine in if you want to eat with your pet pooch. Some might struggle with the narrow winding staircase and sloping floors , but this is all part of the character of this fabulous property and the staff trip over themselves to assist you. My second stay here, and it won't be the last. Ross is a great little town to explore around, lots of restaurants, cafes, antique shops and local walks. On site town centre parking included with the stay.

Difficult to work out how to drive to hotel so as to access car park due to restrictive one-way system. Evening meal was not up to expectation. 'Tempura squid' was rather over fried squid rings in batter. Burger was stuffed with a lot of unnecessary and not very fresh nonsense without which it would have been better. Price was OK though and it wasn't terrible.

Lovely comfy bed. 'Proper old-fashioned' pub/hotel. Lovely atmosphere. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast was wonderful with artisan bread and high quality ingredients

There isn't much not to like about this hotel. The only bad bit about it is the entrance to the card park. It is tight, very tight. We have a Captur. Anything bigger would really struggle to get in without doing a few manouvers to get in.

The staff were really friendly. The hotel had a good atmosphere about it. I was really surprised by the mattress. It did feel a bit harder than what I have at home, but it was co comfortable, I could really relax on it. Ross-on-Wye itself is a beautiful place to visit. If we're in the area again, we'd be more than happy to stay here.

Recommending Room 18 as it is bright and high up so you can see the countryside. It's a very old building but the room is quite contemporary with a comfy bed. Everything you need and really helpful staff. The restaurant is very good and there's a really great boozer downstairs too. The only downside was a distinctly average meal on Saturday pm. Batter on the beer battered fish was too thick and greasy. Should have chosen the sea bass as my wife did!

The charm of the hotel and staff. Very comfortable room and bed. Liked the bar and public areas. Being central in Ross

Staircase to rooms might be an issue for more elderly visitors.

Excellent B&B accommodation for the price. Comfortable ensuite rooms and plenty of hot water. Excellent breakfast and good choice.

WiFi was virtually unusable all weekend throughout the entire hotel, tried loads of times, spoke to staff about it twice "we'll reset the router" but nothing seemed to fix it

Very central in Ross, lovely old Tudor building, the bar, restaurant and snug room were all very cosy, great food, excellent breakfast, and all the staff were super friendly and helpful

Decor in public areas a bit jaded, tight squeeze to access car park.

Good size bedroom and bathroom. Nice bar and restaurant , breakfast choice was very good for a small hotel and freshly cooked using locally sourced products. Free parking a bonus.

Wardrobe was in an awkward position - its door was too near to the bathroom door and they both opened out against each other. Asked for fried eggs on breakfast, got poached, wouldn't have minded but could taste vinegar on them.

The bed was extremely comfortable. Nice hospitality tray in room. Bathroom a good size.

The decaf coffee after the evening meal was rather weak.

Extremely generous portions, especially of the sharing platter, which was billed as a starter but which could have been a meal in itself. All the staff were very courteous and efficient.

Stairs could be awkward if people not very mobile but you are told that before you book.

The breakfast was excellent. Everything cooked fresh, even to how you wanted eggs cooked. Room was very modern and exceptionally clean. Bed really comfortable and had a lovely sleep. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel right in town centre so everything accessible.

Rooms at the front suffer traffic noise, rooms at the back tend to have no views but it is in a prime location.

Third visit and was as good as ever. Restaurant is excellent and has a good selection of wines. Staff always friendly and helpful.

We had to take 3 rooms because most rooms do not cater for a family with children.

Good full English breakfast. WiFi OK. Quiet (we were pleasantly surprised since the hotel is also a pub and this was Friday night). Pet friendly. Great location for walking around Ross. Good value for money.

Wifi was a bit hit and miss as was the TV reception.

Breakfast was very good as well as the menu for the bar and restaurant. Very convenient for the river walk and getting out to the countryside.

Room was a bit stuffy, couldn't open the windows wide enough. This was because they were old sash windows!

The under cover car parking - upon returning to my car in the morning I found the roof was covered in disgusting bird droppings from the birds that had sheltered/were living in the roof of this area.

The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel was beautifully presented, lovely food and the room was beautifully presented with everything I needed and a good nights sleep was had.
