How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Having a ground floor room at the back of hotel which was very noisy and the window didn't shut which didn't help.
Moving to fourth floor on second day as it was quiet.

The bathroom was tiny and awkwardly done had to walk sides ways to get past the sink to get to either the shower or the toilet. The toilet was awkwardly positioned hardly any room to sit on it properly let alone to access it It was very cold and couldn’t shut the window with fear of the handle coming off due to it being so wobbly
The decor was nice the interior of the room was nice

The floor felt old and uneven, the mattress was not comfy. There was a humid stuck between the double glass that completely blurred the view when the window was closed. The tv showed only very old tv shows.
I liked that it was clean and that you can hear the tides and see a sea from the window.

The downstairs area had the feel of a youth hostel. There was a vending machine. There was a smell of damp as we went upstairs and I noticed black mould on a wall. The decoration was in a poor condition.
We had a room with a balcony and sea view. The room was spotless. The bed was comfortable. The room was well appointed and had a fridge and decent sized bathroom.

Only drawback for this Hotel is that it doesn't have a lift!!!! Not good if you are on the 3rd floor! If booking and you have mobility issues,then please point this out to tge receptionist....its no fun carrying suitcases up 6 flights of stairs..
Hotel was in an excellent location for everything just minutes away from all attractions... views from Hotel room outstanding.... room was really clean and modern....good choice at breakfast..

The outside of the building and public spaces weren't as clean/fresh/smart as the room but that doesnt matter really as the room was excellent - The bathroom had a small step up once you opened the door which was an issue during the night, but not that important really as the room/bathroom was excellent. TV could do with more freeview or more channels but it was a smart TV with added extras there which more than made up for that. No complaints really, room was excellent and would definitely stay again.
Room was immaculate, nicely decorated and after the initial outside of the building the room was a pleasant surprise. Really nice inside with great view and really nice interior. Radiator plus oil filled radiator if you get cold, and a fan if it was too hot. Smart TV, good free wifi, decent size balcony and parking nearby. Really good stay and will stay again.

The main stairs had a bit of strange smell.

Room a but small, would like a comfortable chair so that I could spend a bit more time in the room.

We visited this hotel to book our wedding ceremony and find out more about the local area. The hosts couldn’t help us enough. Thank you. Such a beautiful location and period style property that has been historically lived in… and we like that! Would recommend x

The toilet and sink set up was strange. If I was overweight, I would have struggled to squeeze past the sink to reach the toilet. Similarly, the shower was cramped.

Having to climb to the 4th floor, with no lift and uneven stairs, was the worst of the experience, I'm afraid.

Mattress was uncomfortable, shower door was broken.. it all needs an update .. but it could be really nice with some care.
