Staff were excellent , friendly and made us feel very welcome. Loved the age of the property and the bar was well stocked with good beers. good WIFI and parking and a very pleasant ambience to the property and the area.

window missing a pane in the bathroom, hairs in the bath, and the heating did not come on in the morning meaning the room was very cold.

The room was very hot, so we had to sleep with the windows open all night. There was no lamp in the room - there was a small light above the bedstead but could see how to turn it on at all. It was a bit dusty and there was hair stuck in the bath mat.

Room was a little cold and couldn't really be adjusted - I think the central heating was on a timer. Bathroom was very cold!

Really friendly staff on arrival. Excellent location for the event we had on at Buckden Towers. The dining room / pub bit was lovely and cosy. Room was super-clean.

Definitely in need of some maintenance but somehow it added to the character. Had to wait for the owner to come back to open up but it wasn’t along wait. I appreciate it must be difficult running this sort of pub/hotel in the current climate

A unique character in a good location for my needs

Skeleton staff, it’s not open as you would an expect a hotel to run. There doesn’t seem to be anyone there early morning except the housekeeper. The restaurant also closes early if it’s not busy whether there are residents or not. We ended up booking across the road at the George to meet for morning coffee with guests as the Lion bar wasn’t open. The restaurant didn’t look very welcoming mainly due to it being so quiet, so we went for food at the Vine. £20 for pie of the day seemed a bit steep to be honest vs homemade pie at the Vine being considerably less. It’s a shame as the staff at the hotel were very good and previously it was a thriving busy place. It seems to have lost its regular customers from the village and looks a bit tired now.

Breakfast was good but not exceptional. Building inside and out seemed to need some freshening up.

Very historic old (1492!) coaching inn in the middle of the pleasant village of Buckden. Next door to history-rich Buckden Tower. Pub area is quaint and it's nice to mingle with locals. Easy parking both in hotel lot and on street outside. Affordable rates. Owners were very welcoming and friendly.

Room on ground floor facing onto the main road so a little noisy early morning. No breakfast facilities and no real breakfast options in the village.

I was on the ground floor and the curtains were see through from outside when the room light was on. Ask for a 1st floor room! Some of the fixtures and furniture were rather tired and in need of an update.

The decor is in need of refreshing, attention to detail. Sunday night menu is a little restricted due to the emphasis on Sunday lunch, breakfast was ok but additional cost.
