If I had not got an up grade I would have struggled to get into the bath / shower due to height

The staff were so friendly The room was a good size ( due to up grade ) Facilities all worked well The hotel adjusted the price for breakfast as I only eat a small about each morning

Stylish hotel, bar and conservatory were really nice and the cocktails were fantastic. We enjoyed the breakfast too, really well cooked and fresh quality ingredients. The room was a good size and the bed was really comfortable.

We decided to have our evening meal in the hotels restaurant which was our first experience here & one we were looking forward to. We booked a table upon on arrival & went down at the relevant time, however we were were waiting several minutes before we were greeted or acknowledged in anyway by the staff which was disappointing. We ordered the chicken & also the Ox cheek as our two main meals & whilst they were presented nicely they were in fact luke warm & not as flavoursome as we had hoped. Sadly this put us off ordering desserts. I thought this was a great shame as the restaurant itself was beautiful & there was a lovely ambience to it.

We had a great stay at Malmaison recently. The hotel itself was located very well within walking distance of the town & was situated within a nice looking neighbourhood. The hotel was well maintained & the receptionist who welcomed us was very polite, welcoming & professional.

You could hear everything that is happening in the corridor. Which was fine as was occasional passers. However, a dog next door was barking during the night. Earplugs helped but not completely. £15 for a 1 hour later checkout is a bit too much in my opinion. I would have willingly paid to stay until 2pm as there was a direct train to London at 3pm, but paying £45 for that is too much.

I liked the design, amazing location, beautiful building, rooms are a little bit 60-70s vibe. I actually liked that it was warm in the room and I could open a window for some fresh air. Black out curtains, comfortable bed, pillows.

Whilst we very much appreciated the room upgrade (we were in room 215), the bed in the room was made up of two single beds pushed together, but apparently not fixed together, so unless you laid in the middle of each mattress, you'd fall down the gap in the middle as the mattresses would separate. We were there for just one night, but had it been longer, would have asked for a different room. The lighting was a bit bizarre too, and not sure all spotlights were working in the bathroom, but again for the short time we were there, it wasn't worth asking to move.

Lovely venue, friendly and helpful staff on reception, tasty breakfast options, and we were given a complimentary room upgrade.

The air conditioning in our bedroom was difficult to set. We couldn’t regulate it below 19 degrees and therefore we found the room very warm. If the window could open up more that would have been ideal.

The location was great. We enjoyed dining in the restaurant each night. The food and service was excellent. It was nice to stay in a lovely old building for a change. Thank you for your hospitality!

I felt that the evening meal menu choice and what was served was disappointing; however, the team accepted the feedback and the matter resolved. It would not stop me returning to the hotel.

The staff at Malmaison were excellent. The room was excellent and the hotel in general was a real pleasant building to frequent. I enjoyed my stay and was made to feel both welcome and comfortable. The reception team went out of their way to resolve a problem created on the Booking.com website - they didn't make excuses they honoured the booking. I was immensely impressed by their professionalism and personal touch. I am grateful.

The air conditioning unit was noisy during the night and I also couldn’t lock our bedroom door.

The location was brilliant and very easy to find. The breakfast was okay but a little overpriced. Hotel could have done with a fitness suite, although the guests are permitted to use a nearby gym for no cost.

The only thing I didn’t like was … the lighting in the bedrooms … club rooms and club deluxe suite .. both VERY poor lighting. Had to get ready for a party … impossible !!

The lighting in the rooms is very low level - impossible to apply makeup! It was disappointing that the bar was closed for private functions on both nights that we stayed

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. The location is ideal. Nice coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Reception staff very helpful and accommodated a late check out for us! Breakfast delicious but pricy!

Very poor lighting in my room, one out of only 5 very dull bulbs gone ! Was expecting room service but not really a problem as a good price. No replacement of coffee and chocs on second night.
