The booking in was a bit confusing, I think due to a breakdown in communication between booking.com and the hotel. I could have sworn the website said there were no en suite facilities and I should upgrade if I wanted them; so I did, only to be told on arrival that all rooms had en suite. However, it was a fortunate accident in that I had upgraded to a luxurious space and bathroom that were just what I needed. I then got two contradictory invoices. Another two things that I didn't like, were: that the bathroom had an automatic light which you couldn't switch off so you get a full blast of brightness if you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night (try sleeping after that!); and sound-proofing is not very good so I could hear bathroom sounds from next door very clearly whilst resting in bed. The devil is in the details, they say, and I did keep feeling that's where they were slipping up.

The room and bed were extremely comfortable, the bathroom luxurious. I didn't have dinner but if the breakfast was anything to go by, it's probably excellent because the breakfast couldn't have been better. It was cooked with flair whilst still delivering what you expect from a good breakfast. The staff are really wonderful and helpful, and it is they who really bring the colour and vivaciousness to the place.

We had obviously been lucky on our previous trip in January as unfortunately the price for the same room had hiked up, somewhat, and the traffic noise had also increased.

The staff are exceptional. I can overlook a great deal if I get good service and this was great. My wife and I stayed a few months ago and we were bowled over by the accommodation and service and this time we also enjoyed a delicious evening meal and breakfast.

Whole building was too warm including room despite radiator being off - thankfully the windows opened.

The Roku TV in the room was very hard to use, we spent nearly 40 minutes just trying to register to use.

the room was amazing and the bathroom was huge! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening in the bar and looked forward to relaxing in the room. We hadn't booked breakfast but decided to add it to our reservation and it was lovely.

During our 3 night stay the room was not serviced even after I made comment. The service in the restaurant was on the slow side. Our room, whilst comfortable, was compact and over accessorised with little room for guest luggage etc. Great for a photo but not practical. Light sleepers would have issues with noise and vibration from the nearby rail and road.

The food was fabulous. The menu for dinner offered a good selection and breakfast was also good. Comfortable bed and fabulous large shower room. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

Lots of items not available on the menu due to a busy previous service. Outdoor lighting was not working - not great as it was a v wet and dark night and had to walk from the main building to the annexes opposite. No breakfast served before 8am - and we had to leave at 8am so had to leave with empty tummies!

The heating in the room was not very good. I had to bleed the radiators when we arrived to get them to work and the heating also went off in the evening. The shower could also do with a good scrub as the grout is yellowing.
