Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only issue we faced was when the B&B was at full capacity. The water ran out while my husband was showering.
The hospitality of Liz & Mike was exceptional. Warm, welcoming, and friendly. We stayed in the History Room, and it was spacious enough for the two of us. A great place and good atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

United KingdomThe warm welcome and introduction. The room was huge, some places would have it into two room. The dual aspect windows gave us a fantastic view to wake up to. We spent three days here and loved every minute of it. Liz and Mike were great hosts, breakfast set us up for the day each day.

United KingdomOur one issue was lack of taxi service in the area. We were there for a wedding at a large venue nearby but was totally unable to get a taxi service which meant that my husband had to drive which was not an ideal situation for us. This of course is no reflection on The Old School ... they were just as bewildered as we were but it needs to be mentioned for anyone finding themselves needing such a service.
The location was stunning and the establishment absolutely wonderful with excellent attention to detail. The room was lovely, gorgeous comfy bed and lovely large spotless bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities were good with a fab selection including home made shortbread. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious and plentiful with eggs from their own chickens and gorgeous home made jam which us available to purchase. The welcome was very good and the hosts could not do enough for us. They are lovely people and the business is a credit to them.

TWhen you enter a building like this it captivates your soul. The attention to detail and theme of its original purpose a village school. Which I attended as a child. I could not believe the transformation into this luxury accommodation. The furnishing and decor and original bits here and there blend into a mix of old and new. Mike and Liz are two very talented people in their individual ways which results in what you see . The Queen would feel at home here. The Old School is without a doubt Regal sophisticated and has a ambience of sheer bliss. A complete masterpiece in its own right. I take my hat of to Mike and Liz. I'm sure if Burns were alive his pen would flow the ink romantically accross the page and extend his heart imprinted forever on his mind the feeling this place would affect his mood . The Old School sheer poetry.

United KingdomThe only thing I would have on a wishlist is that heating stayed on a touch later than 11, but on the plus side it meant we went to bed earlier.
Mike and Liz were very welcoming. The old school is decorated and furnished to a high standard, breakfast was great and the jams home made. The bed was very comfy. The building has kept its theme in with being previously a school, and is quite curious in its own right. It well located for the rugged Galloway dark skies park, as well as exploring the surrounding villages and resturants. Really enjoyed staying !

United KingdomIt would have been great to have dinner on offer as it was approximately a 6-10mile round trip to eat out or get takeaway food. We would love to stay here again
Mike’s cooking was excellent. Liz and Mike made us very welcome. The location is beautiful but a car is essential. Our hosts very kindly allowed us to use their dining area to bring ‘carry out’ food in as they don’t offer dinner. Great stay.

United KingdomOnly the WiFi as it kept dropping in and out.
The room was lovely, very spacious. Very comfy couches, and very well maintained. The breakfast was really good, with a wide variety, including home made jams. The location was very beautiful, if a bit far away if you are coming in by train. However, we managed to get around fine with a taxi that the hotel recommended. If you have a car then you will have no problems, as there is onsite. We enjoyed interacting with their chickens, and their dog. The hosts were accommodating of all our requests.

United KingdomNothing, everything exceeded our expectations
From arrival to departure we found everything to our liking, parking was easy in the car park to the front of the building, we were met personally by our host and the layout of the building explained, once in our room we were blown away by the size, consisting of a large double bed with bedside cabinets, a wardrobe and dressing tabe the sleeping area was more than ample, in the seating area we had two large comfortable sofas a large coffee table and a chest of drawers that housed the tea coffee facilities, also included was a large smart TV, down one wall were four large windows giving views out across the valley. Through a door was a well equipped toilet/shower room, with heated flooring. All bedding, towels and toileteries were supplied. A vast range of options were avavilable for breakfast from home made preserves, to fruit salad or cereal and the option of a cooked breakfast, the dining area was magnificent as all guest sit around a large round table so communication with fellow guests was easy. If booked in advance an evening meal may be provided, however if you wanted to order a takeaway, the hosts will lay the table with crockery, cutlery etc at no extra charge. There was nothing about the Old School we did not like and will definitely return
