When we arrived we wasn't made to feel welcome by the woman on the reception in fact quite the opposite We are here for a nice relaxing time not made to feel unwelcome

The bathroom was a bit grubby but I think due to age and there were very small cups for tea or coffee in the rooms

It was a little tired in places/looked a little shabby, there were repairs that needed to be done and the shower was pretty awful.

It was spacious and had all the amenities needed! It was priced well with breakfast included!

The room I stayed in (5) could do to be refreshed. However, I have run a business and understand that there isn't always the money available to do everything. This is a minor negative and the only thing I could think of.

The staff I met are without exception welcoming, helpful and a credit to the hotel. I messed up my booking and Reception took time and trouble to sort it for me to stay an extra night when they were very busy. I have stayed here twice now and would do so again. Very comfortable bed slept really well. Plenty of off road parking was a bonus.

Would have liked to have known in advance what was happening each evening. We didn't know about the bingo or where we could buy tickets to play. Also we were aware of things not available on the menu but not about specials eg fish special on Friday. We would have planned things differently in advance otherwise.

Only issue was GB News blaring out over breakfast. I’m currently walking the whole of the Leeds and Liverpool canal and really could avoid hearing upon wakening about how terrible and broken the country is by supposed “patriots” who have a vested interest in stoking divisions. People are on their hols. It was much less motivating getting on the road to walk the 12 miles to Burnley after being lectured to by GB news presenters about how utterly dreadful Britain is. How about some nice classical music over brekkie or something very neutral like Coldplay?

Lovely, friendly welcoming staff. Very nicely appointed, stylish rooms that were very comfortable and clean. Generous breakfast, excellent value for money.

Guests next door a bit rowdy until late, but this is not the fault if the hotel. We would definitely come back (and stay for longer next time).

Breakfast could have been better ... only the tinned tomatoes (which I love with a cooked breakfast) were hot. Sausages were more bread than meat. Eggs had gone hard, but the bacon was good. There were no mushrooms and/or black pudding. The occupants of the room opposite had a dog which barked occasional - so sleep wasn't as good as usual

The evening meals we had were very good, although the lamb dinner had sold out, but the beef brisket chosen instead was good. Bed was comfortable.

At breakfast we were all given different types/sizes of mugs of water containing a teabag. When asked later if we could have another cup of tea we were told by what looked like a young embarrassed waiter that we would have to pay for any extras. Not very professional. Wouldn't want to recommend to family or friends. Pity. The place has potential.

We had a lovely room it was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed all the meals that we had. It is also a beautiful place to stay surrounded by beautiful countryside

My room was obviously designed as a single bed, which now had a double bed in it. This meant that there was no spare room and nothing fitted. There was only one bedside cabinet and the light wouldn't reach as the plug was too far away. The light was on the dressing table which just filled the table up and couldn't be reached from the bed. Too much furniture just cramped the room. I have stayed here before but the room was much bigger.

Excellent food. Novel to see that had a bingo night on. Don't see that much in hotels.

No indoor lounge area separate from dining room. Didn't expect bingo on a Thursday night!

Easy to find, easy parking. Comfortable bed, good linens etc. Breakfast was freshly cooked, good choice. Good value included in room price.
