    Very Good

Raucous canned music, that adds nothing to the amenities of the hotel. Steep stairs to upper rooms (in an avowedly old building) -- which old or infirm guests may find difficult. Room 4: overhead light of miserably low wattage. .

Location right in the centre of town, with free parking. Helpful, friendly staff. Good restaurant. Comfortable, well-furnished public rooms & bar. Full breakfast included in room-rate.

Delightful old English country town hotel, brimming with character in old part of Bridgewater.

The breakfast wasn't great. More fresh fruit and a greater variety of breads (croissant for example or seeded, grainy brown bread) and home made jams would have been nice.

A quintessentially English hotel, brimming with history and character, located in the very attractive old town of Bridgewater. Eclectically and tastefully decorated. Very good dinner and good selection of wines.

We stayed at the hotel for a family reunion. Our very large room had a really comfortable 2m bed and the separate shower in the bathroom was hot and powerful. The staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly Connor, where nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a good.

An excellent choice for an overnight stay in Bridgwater.

Foccacia and Olive oil / Balsamic was offered as a 'while you wait' starter but is a little overpriced at £5.50. In many restaurants, bread & butter/olive oil is often included in the cover charge. The focaccia was homemade but was just a little dry and slightly disappointing at that price point.

I arrived around 1530 and after a smooth check-in, I enjoyed an excellent Sunday Roast. Beef was served with all the trimmings, Yorkshire Pud, Roast potatoes, extra gravy and a generous selection of vegetables including Broccoli, Carrots, Parsnips, Swede, and Cauliflower cheese. Very good value at £15. Rosie provided helpful, friendly, and efficient service.

The property was amazing, constructed from several houses which had been joined over centuries. The decor of the bar and restaurant complemented the age of the Old Vicarage with tea and coffee served in floral cups and saucers. The menu was comprehensive and the quality of food was excellent. All staff were helpful and made sure our visit was an enjoyable experience. Our en suite room on the first floor was spacious overlooking the church and steeple that is a landmark of Bridgwater. From here we visited Burnham on Sea, Whatchet, Minehead and the Clark’s Village in Street.

The only slight downside is that the entrance to the car park is narrow if you have a large car. However, they recommend that you reverse in and there is on street parking.

Cosy, historic building with lots of character and friendly staff. Amazing breakfast and efficient service. The bathrooms have been re-plumbed so you gain the benefits of a charming property with modern plumbing.

The free parking was much appreciated but the space was a little tricky to get into (this is due to the age and layout of the buildings, and is not a criticism but just for information). There was also free overnight parking outside

The staff were all wonderful. We had dinner and breakfast and all the meals were very good. The room was comfortable and stylish and a good size. All the public areas were beautifully decorated, in a way that was interesting and fresh, yet sympathetic to the age of the building. The Christmas decorations were also fabulous, and we loved the little room off the bar, the perfect place for a night cap after dinner.

Accomodation was in the court yard. It was quite noisy in the morning as the cleaners were directly outside talking, clearing their throats and smoking. There was an outside bench directly opposite the accomodation where they were sittung
