    - Broken sofa in our room (room 1) - the base collapsed when you sat on it - Failure to warn us about said sofa, resulting in bruises, no apology when we complained. - No front door key supplied, and we found ourselves locked out just after 10 p.m.

    - Beautiful location in stunning countryside - Proper bath, big enough to stretch out in - Reasonably priced bar and restaurant

... rooms not very warm, facilities very average, breakfast nothing special and when we phoned ahead to say we might be a little late (after 10 hours walking) they showed no inclination to keep the kitchen open for us. This was all in stark contrast to the other places we stayed on the Dyke path.

Handy for Offa’s Dyke but ...

Twin room booked with single and double beds. Single bed very poor like a camp bed. Room in need of updating. Bathroom light would not work. Reported this to staff who were not very interested and said nothing could be done as electrical, so had to manage in the dark. Breakfast ok but basic with little choice. On leaving I had to go into kitchen to find staff to check out. Nice location but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Less rain next time please !

Jane and Alistair offer a warm and friendly welcome and were very professional. The Park Hotel is ideally situated 4 minutes from the Black Mountain Cycle Centre which made my weekend stress free and maximised m leisure time. Great food, good selection at the bar, comfortable and quiet rooms (with black-out shutters if required for a lie-in) and overall a wonderful stay.

The staff were not friendly and very unhelpful. In fact, we felt like an inconvenience. Definitely don't take children there unless they are happy to sit and be seen but not heard. Such a strange experience. We have been so welcome everywhere else. Maybe that's what made this place stand out as such a bad experience.

The Park Hotel was a real find and I would highly recommend it. The room and food were excellent and the hotel is an a superb setting but what impressed me the most was the welcome and helpfulness of the staff. I stayed here while walking the Offa's Dyke Path and was reallocated a room with a bath when they saw that I'd been walking all day, which was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. The staff were also very helpful about walking and bus routes. I had a really great time here and I will be back. Thank you very much Park Hotel!

The wi-fi signal could have been stronger but that is only a very minor gripe as everything else was superb.

The food was amazing, with the breakfasts and evening teas (which come at an additional cost) being exceptional. The staff was very friendly, and incredibly helpful and welcoming also. No request was an issue for them which I really appreciated. Hotel itself is in beautiful surroundings, with the rooms being spacious and decorated nicely. Large bathroom was a bonus also! Plus having a large car park was ideal.

Some confusion over pet friendliness. Selected property using pet friendly search on Booking.com and checked hotel's own website day before departure. But were told on arrival no pets anymore. But they allowed us to bring our dog in anyway for no extra charge.

The only thing that was a let down was the poor quality sausage at breakfast. Did I eat the one that was served. Of course I did. This is just personal choice & in no way spoiled my stay. The only other negative is that my stay was too short. Would love to have stopped for a couple days more.

Warm welcome from owners. Room upgrade due to other guests having to cancel unexpectedly. Great steaks served & choice of draught or bottled beer. Room size & aspect was good. Good powerful shower in en-suite. Good parking.

It was very cold in the room at night even when I turned the heating on as high as I could. Couldn't get wifi in the bedroom. Also the shower was a little weak and hard to get a decent temperature that wasn't too hot or too cold These are very minor things compared to the good things and it was still great value for the money you paid.

It was very hot but the French windows opened outwards and so that helped. I think that visitors from the US would have had problems with no A.C. There was nothing about the hotel that I didn't like. For anyone wanting to go into town the buses are infrequent, one every two hours.

I booked a single room and so didn't need to pay the usual supplement. The owners are very obliging and a tasty breakfast to order was delivered in a few minutes. The grounds are very attractive and I had a lovely view from my room. Also there is a well stocked bar.

As a couple who don't appreciate fried breakfast there was very little else on offer. Only standard mini boxes of cereal, standard sliced toast and orange juice. Would have loved some fresh or dried fruit, muesli or maybe fresh bread or croissant? Room 1 was fine but sadly next to the family room with a couple and their 4 children who were well behaved, but all children wake early!! No evening meals available, but enjoyed an evening at The Old Pandy Inn

    Staff friendly and helpful.

The owners were so lovely, nothing to much trouble, spacious rooms, nice crisp clean good quality sheets, evening meal very nice, and a big hearty breakfast, nice grounds. no complaints.

The Owners are super friendly and go all out to ensure you are well catered for throughout your stay! Stayed off peak and got a great price through booking.com

Poor value for money more like a B and B than a hotel Property needs a major refurb The fact that they didn't have any extra pieces of toast other than the one piece each offered highlighted the service

No bad experiences: wifi is a bit "iffy" (not the hotel's fault, I'm sure) --- it comes and goes! And I never found a furnished lounge in which to relax and use my laptop; though the bar served the latter purpose quite adequately.

    Very friendly staff.

No hairdryer or telephone in the bedroom. A disappointment, considering the money. Not worthy of a 3 star hotel sadly. Needs modernising.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and put themselves out to help with a problem I had. The breakfast was satisfactory.
