There was no food available in the evening and this was not made clear when booking. This meant we had a walk down cliff steps into Portpatrick to find an evening meal. We could have driven but then you can't have alcoholic drink. This is a big negative and needs sorting even if only a limited menu offered.

We had a sea view room with beautiful view. Plenty of space and comfortable room, new clean bathroom with bath. Breakfast was tasty with lots of choice. Very enjoyable stay

Sunday morning breakfast was a little chaotic, only one staff member for a full dining area. The poor girl did so well, stayed very polite through it all.Dog friendly was great, but there was no water bowls any were.We had to hunt for a bin to dispose our poo bags.

All areas we clean and the staff were very welcoming.

    No evening meals available.

Fantastic room, beautiful view, very relaxing and comfortable lounge and bar area. The hotel had a charm not found in modern 'clinical' hotels which seems to be all the same but a different brand. Please note, it's a bit of a downhill hike to the village unless you take your own transport.

No information anywhere regarding meals, an information pack in the room would be helpful with meal/bar times and menus. When we checked in there was a message on reception desk saying due to unforeseen circumstances no evening meals were being served so we walked down to the local pubs for food. It was only when we were checking out we were told by another guest that they were available for guests. Receptionists were nice but would have been nice to speak to guests more and relay that information.

The location is fantastic, we paid extra for a sea view room and was well worth it. Room was clean and bed was comfy, lovely deep bath. Breakfast was delicious.

The restaurant was unfortunately not open in the evenings but there was no alternative or suggestions on where to go to eat. We travelled quite far so didn’t know the area and what was around the area. Would also be nice if we could have seen what things we could do in the area too as we just stayed in the hotel in the evening as we weren’t sure on where to go. But apart from they minor things the rest was great

We travelled from Dundee for the coos and ewes tour in new Luce, was recommended the portspatrick hotel and we were very impressed the Room was clean, comfortable bed and lovely view. Very spacious and bright. Staff were welcoming and helped us to sign in and showed us our room.

Lovely old Scottish Hotel in a charming village

Sadly there was no evening meal! There are two or three places to eat in the village, but we had hoped to eat in the hotel. Unforeseen circumstances, but disappointing for us. We asked for a sea view and it was beautiful. Sadly we had pretty full on "weather" for our 2 day stay. The wind off the sea was hitting our window the whole time so the room got pretty cold. The glorious big old sash and case windows were a bit draughty. I guess double glazing them would be a solution, but that's really expensive for sash and case. You don't want to lose them as they are part of the hotel's charm, but double glazing them would make the room more comfortable in cold weather. Liked everything else very much.

Hotel's location is wonderful. Proximity to the wee village was ideal. Room was large and very comfortable and our view was stunning. Lovely bar and restaurant spaces were also very nice. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Lovely cooked breakfast. VERY dog friendly. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Television reception was poor, but, with a little manipulation, a handful of channels were had. On driving into the village, there was no signage for the hotel, and it took a little puzzling to find the correct road. The restaurant was closed the evening we were there.

The room was very comfortable, and we had a sea view we didn’t expect, which was a bonus. The bed was really comfortable, and the room comfortable.

Unfortunately, on arrival, we were told no evening meals were being served due to staff shortages. This was a big disappointment. Fortunately, we got a table in one of the harbour restaurants. Could not understand why we were not informed of this before arrival. Steps from the hotel down to the harbour are steep, and you have to be careful. But the views and sound of the sea are majestic.

Lovely views of Portpatrick Harbour from the hotel. Public areas of the hotel are newly and beautifully decorated and carpeted. Very nice breakfast. Staff worked hard and were friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was comfortable and had a seaview.

We were disappointed that there was no food available, other than breakfast. The bar also closed quite early. Bathroom was a bit tired but the room was fine and the bed was comfy

The hotel was lovely, beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfast room was so pleasant and the breakfast was great. Staff were really friendly and helpful, especially Jodie on reception. The views were stunning and despite blustery weather we were warm and .cosy. The pool room was also a great addition. We paid extra for a room with a view- but the window was quite small.

Stunnning hotel in amazing location. Our room particularly the bathroom would benefit from an upgrade but the view from the room over the harbour, the tasty and affortable food and the truely lovely staff more than made up for the antiquated plumbing.

The room was very warm when I arrived but the heating system was easy to manage. Shower facilities were a bit awkward to use.
