What's not to like?

We have been visiting The Priory for over 30 years now, it never fails to exceed both our needs and expectations in every department.

The bed was tiny and we didn't sleep well. Really hot in bedroom so window was wide open but loud noise due to people walking past

We stayed for evening meal which was the best food ever tasted. Breakfast was equally as good and a great amount of quality items. Beautiful dining room.

A choice of menu in the evening. We didn't require 3 courses every evening. It would have been helpful to have the choice of just one course. Pillows were rather soggy.

Food was excellent. Staff also excellent. Exceptional setting with beautifully kept gardens.

There weren’t obvious faults.

The Priory is an exceptional hotel. The service is excellent and the whole hotel is scrupulously clean and tidy. The grounds are lovely and the gardens interesting. Its position backing onto the River Frome adds to its charm. It is a great location for exploring and borders the Arne Nature Reserve. Bournemouth and Poole are in the vicinity and so are many of the lovely Dorset towns and villages. Breakfast was excellent. There is full menu available for the evening.

Staffs are not as friendly and smiley.

Beautiful garden! The hotel itself is such a gem with its vintage architecture and interior designs. The garden is well tended and such a nice walk out after breakfast along the canal.

Would have prefered a bigger bed.

Only thing I would have liked to see better was the grouting in the shower needs a little attention in places and the wallpaper beside the bedside light was worn away by people using the pull cord repeatedly. This was in room 5. It is not a cheap room rate here so these should be resolved.

Service was excellent in all aspects, staff were so courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Room was comfortable and bedding good quality. Location is brilliant for easy access to the town, but still remains quiet.

The service in the restaurant in the evening was a little slow, but fine at breakfast. The food however was excellent.

The gardens were beautiful with a lovely view of the river.

We (couple) liked everything about this little gem of a hotel. History comes to life here and you may think you in the midst of a Agatha Christie novel. Spectacular setting and service.

Surprised that there were no baked beans with the cooked breakfast which i expected as standard. Could also have a better range of pastries available.

Location was great, close to everything. The Hotel grounds were stunning and a lot bigger than i was expecting. The restaurant food was good quality evening meal & breakfast were good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room although small was clean and the shower was modern and powerful. loved the bathroom mirror which had a digital clock on it which was clever. Electric gated car park so felt really secure.

Shower was an electric power shower and kept cutting out during use. Fed back to reception staff.

Shower. Very small Books in room very dusty Dinner not as good as on previous occasions. The cod was bland as was the vanilla sauce but loved the sardines and soufflé and the canapés and chocolates. I’ll have two starters next time!

Bed too soft for our liking, but bed was clearly of a good quality. The shower in the bath was difficult for our elderly parents to get into i.e. to climb over the side of the bath. The kitchen extractor fan is just outside our room (room 2) bathroom window so a bit noisy. It came on about 0700 and went off about 2300 so did not disrupt sleep and I cannot see any alternative given that it comes from the excellent new restaurant addition we loved! Consider the limited parking on a Sunday afternoon as people are there for Sunday lunch and Afternoon Teas so as we arrived prior to our check in there were no spaces and we had to park in the public car park for a few hours prior to spaces opening up in the hotel car park.

Idyllic riverside location and the new restaurant since our last stay is a real additional asset with lots of light and space overlooking the beautiful gardens. The food (breakfasts and evening meal) were excellent. The staff were friendly, effective and efficient.

The room was cramped and the mattress soft but the shower was top class. The restaurant is the best for miles around, if expensive.
