Parking was a bit of an issue, extremely limited, so not an ideal hotel for people with mobility issues.

Breakfast was great, lots of options and the food was delicious. The staff were fantastic. Perfect location for exploring the area and Bakewell is a lovely place.

The only issues are parking and a lack of lift - neither of which they can do anything about, given the age and location of the building. And it is the age and location which serve to make this such a great hotel. Alongside the staff, who are really exceptional: from management to housekeeping, bar and restaurant.

Outstanding staff and a lovely location.

Parking at this hotel is limited but you can park overnight in nearby public carparks.

Stayed in rooms in the courtyard part of the hotel across the road from the main building.A small double and a single which were immaculately clean.Very comfortable beds. The towels were lovely and soft and the toiletries were great. Some nice touches having a coffee machine plus biscuits provided.Good breakfast with friendly staff.Overall a great stay in this hotel.

On leaving spotted a notice saying come have free dinner if it’s your birthday which we had just paid for even though I’d told you it was wife’s birthday. Also paid in full I was told at reception night before so was surprised to be charged another amount on leaving

It was very plush. Made to feel very welcome

The only slight issue was parking difficulties with spaces being restricted. Understandable as the hotel is right in the centre of the town. An insurmountable problem

The location was perfect for us in the centre of Bakewell and near to Chatsworth - the reason for our visit. The art and design of the interior was exceptional with a great deal of effort being taken to create a traditional interior.

The coffee bar annoyingly only accepts card payment which is not on as cash is legal tender so this needs to enable both cash and card payments. Parking is a faff,if you lucky enough to get a limited car park space opposite the hotel where Rutland Antiques is you then have to go back to car with a parking permit (we were not told this by the hotel until we got there). Only other faults is too many cushions everywhere taking too much room up and mattresses could be of better quality. Also the chrome in bathroom needs dusting more eg on top of chrome bathroom bin and heated towel bars but overall room clean but far too many cushions. But room was lovely!

The decor was beautiful, classy and Georgian. The original Georgian windows are lovely and room was warm with central heating . Has a kettle along with good quality tea and fresh coffee bags and a coffee machine with pods. 2 bottles of complimentary spring water, nice touch. Good sized tv in room with Freeview. Netflix and Amazon also available on tv, you just need to sign in with your account if you want either of these channels. Also a Roberts DAB in room. The bathroom in superior room was excellent, had lovely bath&shower with a proper sturdy grab rail on the wall, bath mats and lovely full sized soap, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash. The breakfast was really good with lots of choice inc vegan. Can have cooked breakfast and toast, croissants, cereals, yogurt, honey, fruit, etc inc fresh cafeteire coffee, tea, orange juice etc. The hotel also has chess and bridge board and lovely sitting area inc a coffee bar.

The bed was a little firm for our personal taste but don’t let that put you off

This was our first trip to Bakewell and the Rutland was a great base to explore from. A lovely hotel in a very central location. The interior decor is very nice and is carried through into the rooms which are very well appointed. We ate in every evening of our 5 night stay. The restaurant is excellent as is the food quality and service (special mention to Laura who looked after us so well )

My husband would have liked more choices on offer in the bar. No real ales, which he is particularly partial to, but I wouldn’t say this is a negative comment.
