Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDouble bed, too small. Most hotels offer king size and we didn’t realise when we booked. Room very warm (radiator on in bathroom all night, no fan in room (although we didn’t ask for one). No shampoo or conditioner in shower ( bottle by sink labelled as this but it was soap) TV didn’t work, couldn’t get reception on it
Close to family so we could walk

United KingdomWe were only offered instant coffee with breakfast, perhaps a Nespresso or similar coffee machine could be installed?
Amazing grade 1 listed 17th century coaching Inn. Lovely room with period features , reached by two flights of a stunning wide 17th century staircase.....wide enough presumably for ladies wearing hooped skirts.... King Charles the second stayed there. It is mentioned in one of Charles Dickens Novels. Good pub food in the evening.with generous helpings. Good freshly prepared breakfast Friendly and helpful staff

United KingdomWhen we had our meal Sun afternoon, we felt service could have been slightly better. We had to flag a waitress down to ask to order dessert, but otherwise excellent food and good service
We loved the pre historic look and feel of the hotel, well modernised, great decor and excellent comfy bed

United KingdomThe only thing that I didn't like was that they overcharged me for my sandwich and it took a couple of weeks to sort a refund which is why I delayed leaving this review
My room was lovely ,just what I wanted . My daughter was in panto in Diss at the time so was perfect travel time by car . All staff were very polite and attentive , I was hungry the night I arrived and the kitchen was already closed , however the chef still made a sandwich

United KingdomThe room we were in needed: - a couple of chairs ... 2 comfy outdoor style stacking chairs would do the trick and offer flexibility. - hooks for hanging clothes on and hangers in the wardrobe - 2 keys would be helpful for w occupants
Location is quiet and handy for other places to visit in the area ... near enough to main roads and near to Diss. The hotel is a beautiful old building. We were in the annexe which meant we had a great view of the main building's beautiful architecture. Rooms were warm, bed was comfy, bathroom had bath and over bath shower and was spacious. Tea and coffee and kettle available. Staff were friendly and helpful and personable. Bar food was excellent and well priced. The bar itself had comfy chairs round a roaring fire which was a great focal point for the room and a cosy place to spend a winter evening.

MaltaInterior no longer looks like its photos . Room was tired looking . Public areas were cold . Bathroom suffered from broken floor tiles , no towel railing , and a bad power shower. Lightening in bedroom inadequate. Fully understand that maintenance may be ongoing , but tools were left in public stair well .

United Kingdom1. The breakfast situation. We were looking forward to one of the treats of staying in a hotel, a cooked breakfast, and were upset to only receive a basket. The basket contained insufficient food for two people, for example, one yoghurt on the first morning and only one croissant on the second (and no yoghurts). The quality of the produce was poor; plastic wrapped pain au chocolate, loose tea bags and croissants, and some items from Aldi. Also no plates were provided (only bowls for cereal). I do not think that it represented any kind of value at £10.95 especially as you emailed me the week before to offer this option as an add-on. There appeared to be enough staff around to deliver the baskets or operate the kitchen and you had emailed to say “During your stay we will be preparing home-made freshly cooked food” and it was disappointing that that did not include breakfast. 2. The original booking was for a room that included a seating area and a sofa, our room only had an armchair in the corner and no seating area.
Location was convenient

United Kingdom- on arrival it was slightly unclear which of the 2 sets of double doors we should use to gain entrance to reception as there was a huge box just inside the doors. Then a RT turn for a little reception area located a the bottom of the wide sweeping staircase. Up to our room on the first floor - through a door which appeared more suitable as a storeroom type - along a short corridor to ‘Nelson’s’ room - a good size room with sloping , uneven floors hidden under the carpet but a large four poster bed - for me the rest of the furniture apart from the wardrobe didn’t enhance the room. No info related to stay in room- breakfast times, check out reminders, menus etc The breakfast room was chilly but tables were laid nicely but the instant coffee sachets and scant boxes of cereal were a little disappointing. Our cooked breakfast was ok but without carbs - toast was freshly cut bread but not brown as requested.
A very old coaching inn with a rich history- good location for our trip. Reception were very helpful giving us a list of contacts as the local taxi firm we thought we’d book had let us down. Good size room with a huge 4 poster bed. Warm room. Info in room regarding hotels history was interesting
