The noise from the road was a bit noisy due to the fact that we sleep with the window open.

Lovely setting. The leaflets with local walks were very useful. Dinner and breakfast were very good.

A better range of tea for breakfast could have been provided. Also one of the bar staff did not inform us of the double gin offer or that a bottle of Prosecco was half price due to it being National Prosecco Day. The room was incredibly stuff although a quiet fan was provided.

Location was fabulous. Breakfast was good, evening meal was good.

It was very hot in the room (august stay tbf) the air con cooled it down eventually but took a while. We should have put it on before we went down for dinner.

Very clean, comfy beds. The room smelled amazing & was beautiful. Wonderful shower. Decent WiFi. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely, friendly staff with a warm welcome from Libby. Very quiet, we had the kitchen extractor fan below us which you could hear with the window open but with it shut barely at all.

The extractor fan from the kitchen could be heard in the room and unfortunately we had an issue with spiders in our room, 6 to be precise!

Location good for exploring the area. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. We had a small double adequate for one night and with a view over the abbey.

The power cut. Staff wrote a letter and pushed it under the bedroom door explaining the situation (it was a village power cut, so I understand that it was beyond their control). Pub is also used for conference meetings. I was only there for 1 night, but in the morning on my way to have breakfast a very large group were attending in the bar and it is obvious there is a staircase and people need to pass but I had to keep saying excuse me and they didn't move. When I checked out, the same thing happened.and I struggled to pass with my case, as people were standing right in front of the staircase. It would help if the pub, maybe, put a small portable barrier or sign up saying to keep the space clear, so it is obvious not to stand directly in front of the staircase stopping access.

Room size, excellent! The bed was huge and so comfy. Beautiful furnishings. Appreciated the fresh milk in the room fridge. It is obvious that the property is maintained well. Polite staff.

It was a stay in a pub, so there was some noise from the music downstairs which was to be expected.

The room was lovely and spacious and the staff were all lovely. We had a Sunday roast and it was very tasty. The location was out of the way next to a river.

    Nothing!

Whilst I generally enjoy staying in pubs/inns I usually accept a lower standard of accommodation - their first priority, after all, is to serve food and drink to their daily guests. This does not apply to the Spread Eagle! Situated in a beautiful spot beside the river Ribble, in an ancient, characterful building, I was treated to some of the finesthospitality I have known. The staff were welcoming, warm and friendly. The food was superb, particularly the breakfast, served attentively by Libby. My room was immaculately clean with no sign of the unintentional 'shabby chic' I find so often in pub accommodation. The good range of real ales was well-kept. I shall be back with my wife for a longer stay in one of the grander rooms. (Gizza discount!)

The pub is on a blind corner and so walking from the pub to the car park was quite dangerous at times as cars buzzed round the corner . It was really hot while we were there and you could only open the windows by about 6 inches so although the room had a fan we couldn’t get any through breeze and it got very hot in the room . With the fan on all night and the windows open and the road traffic noise I found it hard to sleep . These factors in no way reflect on the hotel , they are not things they could control in anyway , they can’t be held responsible for the climate or the traffic !

The bedroom was beautiful and well equipped, the towels and bed linen were really good quality. Nice view from window , some nice treats like fresh milk in the fridge and tiny individual Eccles cakes . The food in the restaurant and for breakfast was really good ,using local ingredients and freshly cooked to order .

Nothing - we really enjoyed our stay, thank you! : )

Accommodation was great, powerful power shower. Great selection of tea and coffee (and fridge with fresh milk) and lovely toiletries in the room. We had amazing weather so also lucky to have air-con in the room. Dinner and breakfast were an excellent standard. Very pretty village, sat out for drinks by the river. Enjoyed a wander round the Abbey ruins a hike up Pendle Hill and called at Holden Clough garden centre on way home.

An upgrade to the coffee available at breakfast would be a nice touch (not just out the urn) and our room didn’t have air con (others did) and whilst we coped with the fan, others may want to request a room with air con

Absolute gem of a find in the stunning Ribble Valley. Our room was gorgeously decorated and very spacious. Excellent cooked breakfast selection.

Unfortunately, some youths (I assume, due to their athleticism) came into the pub car park opposite around midnight. We heard what we thought were bin lids banging. When we went to our car in the morning, the bonnet was dented with a perfectly formed seated shape! Kinda funny really! We managed to fix the bonnet. We aren't precious about our car but glad it wasn’t an expensive one. We didn't discuss it with the Spread Eagle as we were leaving. Wouldn't stop us going back.

We loved the beautiful suite we had on the corner of the building overlooking the river. Lovely decor with seating area and window seats for peaceful moments. Lovely coffee in the room. Dinner and breakfast both excellent. Sawley Abbey ruins 5 minute walk. The pub is in a lovely spot. Great location for touring the area. Usually quiet even though the building is on the road..
