Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe had expected parking at the inn, however the car park was very small and nearly full when we arrived. I may have misread or misunderstood the detail on this subject on the website. We spoke to reception staff about our inability to secure parking on site. The lady who dealt with this was very helpful and we were given a voucher for parking in the town. This apparently was the last free parking voucher available, so if we had arrived later, we would have had unexpected additional expenses during our stay. The time it took to sort out parking was stressful as we had to pull up in a busy area beside the inn's parking area which was barriered off. It was a bit worrying parking away from the inn, especially as our parking permit had a rigid expiry time the next day. Driving away from the off site car park was tricky, because of the orientation of the parking bays and exit that was not obvious to us from the car park signage. This would not discourage us from staying again however, as next time we would know what to expect and the positives of the accommodation certainly outweigh the car parking issues.
The inn was situated within the town and walls, our rooms were superbly appointed.

Lovely old building, full of character. Lovely room under the eaves, quirky. No noise at all from anyone else in the inn - good thick solid wall. All staff were friendly and helpful with any queries. Two meals in the inn, delicious.

United KingdomThe only negatives is that the curtains in the room do not provide a good black out and street lamps are are just outside the room. The free WIFI was working but there was no Internet. Not the hotels fault but getting to sleep was also not helped by somone playing music until the early hours in the room below or next door.
The location is excellent, inside the walled city and 5 minutes walk from the castle and quays. The hotel has a number of buildings and I stayed in the Town House, just round the corner from the main building. The room was spacious and clean and included a kitchen area. I ate in the main building which has various dining options including outside, a bar area and "coach house". I chose the bar which is snug and comfortable. Food can be ordered via an app, and service is efficient. Dinner quality was excellent. Breakfast is the coachhouse and again all excellent. There is no parking on site but the hotel can help with street parking if needed. I paid less than £5 for overnight

United KingdomThe only thing was the parking - limited spaces . But not massively inconvenienced . There is plenty of parking outside the wall .
Everything - could not fault this place one bit , the staff are amazing , especially the young chap who served us breakfast and drinks … he’s an absolute credit to the black boy in . Food was freshly cooked to order . The atmosphere and buzz of the place is incredible.

United KingdomWas a little difficult to get parked when I arrived but figured out that there are several public car parks close by so I used those. Also a small car park at the hotel that has to be paid for.
Great location inside historic walls of the town. Room was clean and had a nice bathroom and a comfy bed.

ThailandWe stayed in one of the other buildings which was on the top floor with no lifts, so a little bit of inconvenience lumping too large bags up the stairs.
Excellent location right in the centre of restaurants and bars and 2 minutes from the Castle entrance. Food served in the Black Boy Inn was excellent.
