Room lighting was poor and couldn't be resolved. Staff tried to help and we declined a room change. Disruptive room neighbours in early hours. Management sympathetic and helpful.

Breakfast, help from staff and management, friendly.

Asked for first floor room - knowing there's no lift. Unfortunately. I was allotted room over bar - there was some event- loud music/bass thumping up through floor and couldn't get comfortable for sleep until after 11pm.

My late wife and me stayed several times over the years. First time on my own

Rooms and carpets etc.in need of updating and maybe a quick refresh of the paint. Didn't feel or smell 100% clean although the bed and linen was very clean. Breakfast was ok but the coffee was dreadful instant coffee.

Comfortable bed. Staff generally helpful and friendly Food is good for the cost Free car parking - make sure to ask at reception! Good location for being near to several marinas

The decor of the rooms could do with a spruce, perhaps some new carpets and a lick of paint. Or newer accessories. But everything was clean. We had a room above the outdoor smoking area and when I walked into our room, it did smell like cigarettes. But I don't suppose there's much that can be done for that.

The room size was brilliant, the beds were clean and comfortable. There were tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. Breakfast was made to order and was amazing.. Staff were brilliant.

The wardrobe needs fixing/replacing, bit dusty on bathroom panels but not major issue, the floor is slanted so be careful walking around the room, not a nice view and was noisy at night, heard church bells around 8 30 in evening but wasn’t sure why, spooky, wall light needs fixing on right side, there are a lot of windy stairs to climb so be aware of this if you have arthritis as I do.

The history of the hotel and the old style kept is really nice, dinner and breakfast very well done and presented, and water nice and hot. Despite finding out the room is haunted we are very spiritual and that was an added bonus although we didn’t see a ghost!

The window had no net curtain and my room was directly opposite other rooms, so there was no privacy without the curtain closed. Overall the place is just a bit run down.

It's extremely handy for the train, being only a 10 minute walk away, and it's right in the centre of town. The cooked breakfast is good, and I was pleased to see they now keep the breakfast open to a more leisurely 10 a.m.. The price is quite cheap compared to other hotels around.

You can’t fully open the windows (we stayed on the third floor). Due to health related reasons, we normally sleep with our window open overnight. It wouldn’t stop us from staying here again but it was a minor inconvenience to our comfort, not sure how that would compare in the summer months. We didn’t mention this at the time of our stay because we understood it was a safety measure and a fan would only circulate the same air already within the room. Although we were told at check-in breakfast on Sunday would be from 8am, I forgot and google maps page still reads 7am! Full English breakfast wasn’t great or hot, bland and aneamic, just personal preference but some browning through cooking is more appealing and appetising. Some of the carpet dividers/t-bars along corridors were loose with screws hanging out 10mm, presenting a risk to injury. Not all doors close quietly/softly, noise was sometimes an issue.

Location, history, friendly staff, clean room, comfy bed, shower and bath option available in the room we stayed in. Poached egg was cooked perfectly at breakfast.
