Room carpet had been vacuumed but when I dropped something and looked a bit more closely, it appeared a bit dusty. Not enough to complain, as we were only there for one night and barely in the room. Reception was only open after 8am which was a problem for some, not for us though.

Central location was good. The room was nice (carpet didn't bear close inspection though). Food was excellent and the spa looked good (didn't use it though, no time). Easy and free parking. I would go there again.

This was an overnight stay. The staff were happy to hold my bags in a secure location while I strolled around the town and returned later to check-in. The hotel is in a great location on the riverside in Kendal. It is very close to the railway station. I had a large room which was very comfortable and had a view of the river. I had some pub grub in the hotel restaurant (Steak and Ale Pie). I had a train to catch so I didn't stay for breakfast. I was happy with my stay.

Breakfast was a bit basic for the daily rate. We had a pram as we have a toddler, so a room on a accessable floor would have been nice. Apart from that all was great!

Rooms need a complete overall unfortunately, stayed last year and came back this year, to find room just the same, our TV remote was not working, no power shower, breakfast was not as good as last year, it was self service, not a good selection, staff were friendly, would we stay again probably not.

The restaurant was closed and, as it was raining and cold, we didn't want to walk around looking for a suitable place to eat. We ate in the bar, which wasn't very comfortable. The food was average - steak was chewy and lamb hotpot was very dry.

Room was excellent. They'd thought of everything. Long mirror. Dressing table with mirror and socket. Bedside reading lights. Little table and two chairs, iron and folding ironing table in a drawer. The room and bathroom were very clean. Pool was very nice. Breakfast was very good. Location was excellent

You had to book a specific time for breakfast the night before. The whole place was shut and staff went away at 10 pm. People were wandering around the corridors at 3 am, 4 am.

Breakfast wasn’t brilliant. On the first day, it was theoretically cooked to order but the bacon had obviously been sitting under hot lights so long it was rock solid and inedible.

There could have been facecloths and more toiletries in the bathroom - this would be appreciated since it isn't a budget hotel. The corridors and staircases show some signs of wear and tear.

The location was perfect - right around the corner from Kendal College Arts and Media campus where I was attending a workshop. The hotel also looked onto the river, which gave me a nice view from my window. The room was quiet and very large, so would do for a couple or family and I liked the provision of Lake District tea and coffee sachets. Breakfast was served in an airy room overlooking the water and there was a good selection of cooked and continental choices.
