Felt a bit tired & the refurbishment will be welcome. Our room however was very good.

Proximity of everything we wanted to do. The age of the building. Friendly staff in view that the whole place was closing for refurbishment the week after we were there.

    Ripped curtains loud from carpark

Our room was on the ground floor around the back where there is a carpark and a really mucky and uneven path. Our net curtains were ripped and it was impossible to open the window or blackout curtains as one felt exposed. When we arrived my brother had left a message for us which was not passed on. When I mentioned the curtain the staff seemed uninterested. This hotel was one of the better hotels in town, now the bar is not really open and there is no atmosphere. Sad. The location and authenticity is great.

We were a bit taken back that we had to pay extra for the hotel car park.

Nice room in an historic building, in central Stratford, very convenient for visits, restaurants and so on.

The room location in the building, the room key was not working properly even when reactivated (probably an issue with the lock). The room condition was alright but not for the price paid. Overall the value for money is very poor.

The whole place has a gloomy air about it. Slightly more light would make a world of difference. The staff could also show a little more interest in the guests.

The hotel is well situated and is potentially a very good place to stay. The room was nice and spacious.

I'd stay again because of the staff and location, but come on owners put maintenance before profit.

The room had a squeaky floor, not just a little bit but A LOT. Now, it's an old building, so a certain amount of noise is part of the character. But, at £260.00 for a premium room a night 17 creaks each time you go to the bathroom is a bit much, for anyone, especially if its because your partner at 3 am decides to use the bathroom and you are woken up wondering why the building is experiencing an earthquake when of course it's just someone going to the bathroom. Take our advice and don't book room 140, maybe the other rooms are less noisy. Also, threadbare carpets on the stairs need replacing as this was noticed numerous times and the building is so amazing it deserves to be better cared.

The location was fabulous, very central in an area surrounded by great restaurants and shopping. A five minute walk to the Royal Shakespeare Company was also terrific. The staff were super friendly and most helpful.

Changed rooms as the first one wasn't the one that I had booked. It was at the back of the building. The paint was peeling off the walls, and the view was a roof and a wall. The second room was better, at the front of the hotel, but it was much too warm. We left the window open for some air but there was lots of road noise. The ceiling in the bathroom was damp and you could hear next door talking, going to the loo and snoring. Both rooms could do with some tlc and updating. The carpets and furniture are very tired, and the corners could do with a clean as they were very dusty. Overall, this is a very old hotel with lots of character. It was comfortable and had everything you need in the room and the staff were all very pleasant. It's just a shame that it's not show cased to its full potential and relevant to the prices. We booked and paid for two nights but only stayed for one.

Central location, comfortable beds, great breakfast.
