The room was large and full of light. The bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided in the room. A beautifully put together folder of things to do in and around Windermere including restaurants. Walking routes. Etc.

The location was perfect! Lots of space to park outside of the property. Very clean. Owners very very helpful, gave lots of helpful tips both before and during the trip.

Ideally situated between Windermere & Bo’ness- a nice walk to both locations for lunch, dinner, afternoon drinks and walks or river boat ride. Tasty and good quality breakfast. Owners both welcoming and easy to talk with - knowledge about local area and able to give ideas for walks, bus ride or places to see around Lakes.

My daughter and I spent 3 nights at Thornbank and had the most wonderful stay. I have to say that it is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, someone goes to great lengths to ensure that cleanliness is to the highest standard. The check in and check out processes are simple, and the host is friendly and helpful. The beds are comfy and I loved the extra touches like the complimentary flapjack and the make up removing flannel. Would definitely recommend.

A very clean room, with a lovely bathroom, close to both Bowness and Windermere villages. TV with smart functions so if it's raining can stay in for a movie. Mark and Jane are great hosts and tend to your every need, easy to communicate with and always a quick response.

I booked an en-suite for me and two friends. We had a wonderful experience. With the information, it’s easy to check in by myself. The bathroom is good and clean, the bed is cozy, and the warmer worked well over all night. Don’t need to bring hairdryer and shampoo with you. Also it’s convenient for us to get the luggage loaded in the house. Nice response without delay. Thank you Jane and Mark ☺️ definitely will recommend this house to my friends who may come to Windermere!

I’ve nothing bad to say about it.

We stayed in a room on the ground floor. It was comfortable, clean and warm. Good space for an en-suite. We stayed from Friday to Sunday and it snowed on Saturday, meaning we hadn’t been able to visit the off site health club. Mark and Jane are welcoming & so approachable! They are so lovely. The guest house is fairly modern inside and amenities are provided. The breakfast was included and I love how they used local ingredients. Mark is knowledgeable so definitely ask for recommendations. It’s a short walk from the guesthouse to the lake and restaurants, so there’s plenty to do.

I often worry about the cleanliness of places I’ve not been. It could not have been cleaner! It was properly clean and maintained. Not a stain on the pillows! The owners are some of the nicest people. Parking is good, some wonderful restaurants and places near by. All in all a fantastic place to stay.

Jane and Mark were fabulous hosts. We had a really pleasant stay! The breakfast was well executed, the rooms were comfortable and personalised touches were made including fresh milk daily and hot chocolate sachets! Bathroom was immaculate which we were pleased about.

We arrived late in the evening, checked in very easily. Room was lovely and clean, great selection of teas and coffee etc. Jane had even made us some flapjack which I thought was a great touch. Met Jane the following day and she is absolutely lovely! Had breakfast on just one of our mornings and that was great. Jane was very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you.
