Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bed is a bit on the small end. While we stayed in summer, I can see how it would be difficult to heat the place in winter. Some salt or oil would be great.
The host welcomed us when we arrived, even though it was late. He also allowed us to charge our car which was very nice.

United KingdomI was staying in the area for work and Toadstools gave me the space and independence I prefer for several days away. The house is very secure and secluded and Mark gave me a very warm welcome when I arrived. The complementary milk and jam rings were much appreciated! I would rate the accommodation as good, although it was let down by a couple of small but important points. I really didn’t like the fact that the curtains didn’t fully cover the window widths and there was no curtain at all provided for the half-glass front door which I had to cover up as best I could with a blanket. They were also rather thin and unlined, so there was a lot of moonlight coming in at night, which bothered me. I stayed during a windy week and automatic lights in the path to the cottage annoyingly kept switching on and off all night which made this worse. I think the sensors were being repeatedly triggered by movement of large garden plants nearby. Also, the windows of the house don’t fit very well or are broken (bathroom) and with the chilly winds early in the week the place felt rather cold. I really appreciated the small fan heater that was provided, a nice touch. And as a working person, it was great that the Wi-Fi worked well.

United KingdomThe kitchen was under-equipped for self catering accommodation, where one expects to be able to cook meals. We planned to cook a roast lamb Easter lunch, with the trimmings, but this was not as straightforward as we had hoped, despite us bringing our own slow cooker to cook the roast. I suggest the following utensils and crockery are added to the kitchen: whisk, potato masher, potato peeler, some oven proof Pyrex bowls/serving dishes and jug/s. The lounge had one 2-seater settee, the only seating from which you would view the TV, which meant the only place to sit was directly next to each other, upright, almost as though you are at the cinema. Not only is the sofa less than comfortable, it did not have any wriggle room/space to 'lounge'. I ended up sitting on the floor with my back against the sofa to relax. I would suggest adding a comfortable chair or larger sofa. I think the TV, on the opposite side of the room to the sofa, was too far away. It would have been better placed on the opposite wall to the windows, a (larger, 3-seater) sofa underneath the window and the dining area moved to where the sofa is currently situated. Although this may not be possible due to the location of the log stove. In terms of Health and Safety, I think you need to warn residents that the hot water is extremely hot the instant the tap is turned on. Absolutely great to have the hot water, but one doesn't expect it to be scalding hot the second the tap is turned on.
The location and privacy were excellent. The owners friendly and helpful, particularly when turning the toaster on, switched electricity off in the accommodation. Bed comfortable. Spacious. Log fire was excellent. Complimentary biscuits, tea, etc on arrival and fire logs for first night.

South AfricaWhile the directions given were very good, the property is not signed posted from the road, and since we arrived after dark on a rainy winter Cornwall evening, we did have a little trouble locating the actual entrance to the property.
Toadstool is a lovely out of town property. It was very clean and well appointed, and we were made to feel very welcome by the owner on arrival. The wood burning fireplace is a great touch for the winter evenings.

United KingdomUnfortunately the weather was wet and cold. We were visiting friends nearby during the day and were only there overnight so it was not appropriate to use the wood burning stove. Consequently the cottage was cold and everything including our clothes felt damp. The radiators were inadequate and very difficult to access to alter.
The size of the cottage was ample for our needs. The bed was very comfy.

United KingdomTaps on the bathroom basin were to big for the basin, needed cloakroom taps therefore really difficult to use to wash. Hot water was dangerously too hot. A simple utensil pot would help for the cutlery. Atmosphere felt damp.
Nice location, outside area ideal. Good size rooms. The log burner was very nice.

United KingdomNothing to unlike, everything just perfect.
I recommend this place to all who are looking for a quiet and romantic place in Cornwall for holidays. You have at your own a separate house that allows you to spend a great holiday. Hosts doesn't bother your stay and you can do whatever you want in intimate place. There's separate kitchen with all needed utensils if you fancy cooking. Local farm farm shops and fisherman provide all the best quality products, spices from all over the world, so you can cook as a master chef here :) See pictures please ;) All place is very clean and maintained to a high standard. There's a chimney as well and you can make a fire, if you wish, makes super cosy, warm atmosphere. Location is also very convenient, close to all major towns and ports in West Cornwall. If you like art and quirky places, there's a lot of antique shops, galleries, pubs around, where your mind will surely explode. I wish to everyone, who read this, to explore Cornwall like we did, by renting this amazing place. We have visited Cornwall for a few times, but this one was really exceptional. Really superb recommend!
