How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The room was very small considering we had a medium sized dog staying with us, we were tripping over each other a bit! There weren't any hooks for coats, a dog towel or anything like that, which wasn't ideal in the wet weather. The tap in the sink didn't look clean and after the 1st day there was no daily maintenance/cleaning, not sure if that was because we had a dog. The breakfast was awful. The toaster kept burning the bread, no matter what setting it was on. The vegan sausage tasted like it had spent at least 2 years in the freezer and the mushrooms were very oily.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The shower was nice once I'd sorted out the temperature. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Had an issue with bed slats popping out in my initial room but they swapped me into a different room promptly. First room had no net curtains and was facing a residential street so had to close the curtains to dress! Second room did have nets.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing could have offered a bit more ie fried bread mushrooms. The shower temperature was a bit hit and miss either it was cold or hot
It was located quite close to town and the staff were pleasant

The furniture in the room was a little tired and no working plug to charge phone next to the bed. Bathroom had no shelf next to the sink for toilets.
The night receptionist was amazing, friendly, professional and helpful. Room was comfortable and I slept well. Good bar facilities.

We weren't very keen on the breakfast, shower kept going cold also room was cold as radiator didn't get very warm , bed was uncomfortable room was good size amenities were good .

Some of the other residents were a bit noisy in the evening.
The location was ideal. The room was clean and tidy and 2 chairs were provided (we find that most hotels only have one chair in the room). Breakfast was good as well.

The staff were nice but did came across quite blunt and just gave you the room key and just find it from there.
It was very modern, very aesthetically pleasing and inviting.

Not very clean in the bathroom lots of toothpaste stains. Unimpressed with the cooked breakfast. Might as go to wetherspoons. You get more for your buck. Slightly overpriced overall. For a Saturday night in February.

Cramped bathroom with a sink unit which made it impossible to be clean - lots of books & crannies where dust gathered. Noisy doors. As a solo traveller the bed was fine but would be very small for 2 people, as would the whole room & bathroom.
Welcoming staff, comfortable bed & good pillows. Hot shower.

A picky individual might like a more powerful shower and a TV less than seven feet up the wall. Not me. I've got a naturally pleasant aroma and a flip top head.
Couldn't get better value for money (£30 per night in early January!) than the single en suite room I booked just a few hours before arriving. Very comfy bed and I slept very well. Bedclothes were fresh and spotless. If I wanted everything to be "perfect", I'd have paid three times as much. As it was, I'm extremely happy with my two nights at the Torbay Court.

Nice Modern bathroom but shower grouting needed cleaning, so let it down. Part of room missed the duster No yougurt, granola or pastries at breakfast - but we were last guest there & appreciate bugets
