Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe quaint stairs are typical of old narrow buildings where much height is achieved by deep treads and small space. Difficult for anyone with mobility issues and not too easy to carry luggage up and down. It's an historic area so it's living history!
I self catered as I was running a marathon and needed pre and post race food. There is no car park, you approach down a narrow one way lane, drop off bags inside the property using key in key safe, code for which is sent in text about an hour before you arrive. Car has to be parked elsewhere. A map of free parking areas is available from pre visit emails by proprietors. I would recommend obtaining the Swanage Council street map. I also obtained a Dorset A - Z, pre loved via eBay. All of which very helpful. I was lucky to know the road where one free parking area is and left my car there all weekend. I did find Swanage streets confusing. Important to know the sat nav can take you to the wrong end of Town Hall Lane which is one way. The entrance is actually off High Street, opposite No 73 VALET CLEANING SERVICE

FranceShame breakfast wasn't available at the downstairs cafe on the day we visited. The menu looked great and we had an inferior meal in town.

United KingdomThey are very helpful in letting you know where you can park, but it’s worth being aware that you can’t park at the premises itself. It would be extra good if the breakfast were included in the cost if the room (you do get a discount though which is good!)
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The location is very central but in a quiet spot. The room was really comfortable.

United KingdomIt was a rip-off to offer a b and b with no breakfast for the price charged. They had a cafe for breakfast that they ran so there was an option to provide this.
Comfort and location. Breakfast really good but should be in the price.

United KingdomThere was a note that the we were not to touch the window so it only opened a couple of inches and the room was so hot, a shame we hand the been told before we got there as would have brought a fan with us as there was not one in the room and nowhere open to buy one.
Comfy bed, great shower and location, shame there was no way to cool the room.

United KingdomWould it have been too much to actually flag up on the website or even when we had breakfast on Sunday that the café would be closed on the Monday??? Terrible leak from base of tap in basin. Shower head needed descaling, adjuster knob for shower height missing and grout needed a good scrub. Tiles cracked around step to loo.
Outstanding central but tucked away location. Beautiful historic building. Fresh and appealing decor and furniture. Quality towels. Bottles of water in lobby. Fan in the room. Map on website showing free parking zones.

United KingdomThe only thing really is that I found getting into the shower a bit of a squeeze as the door would only open about half halfway, as it then came to rest against the shower taps. I stayed in room 4 and couldn’t say what the other rooms showers are like. But I wouldn’t let that put me off staying there again.
Great location near the Center of town. Clean room and comfy bed. The hosts were nice and friendly.

United KingdomWe didn't have breakfast. We liked the room but we are an older couple and although we count ourselves quite fit, the toilet and shower being a step up from the main bedroom proved uneasy, especially as the small light provided to light up that area in the dark didn't work. The room itself was very clean and comfortable.
